Many of our people attended the big ‘corn show at La Grange last week and all came away satisfied that they had been amply repaid. The show of corn and other products of the farm was the best ever made in this part of thé state and certainly reflacted great cradit, upen LaGrange county and ber sturdy farmers.

He was once connected with the Anderson Herald and at the time of his death was managing editor of the Guthrie, Ckla., Capital. He served in the Spanish-American § e o TR W. O. Elliott bought of J. R Fell of near Topeka, a two-year-old draft colt that weighed after being driven to Goshen overland eighteen miles, an even 15600 pound. This would mean' 1.674 at. the farm. He says that husks are very loose this year, which is a good sign that the weather will be 80 mild that'the corn needs little protection. On the other hand there are those who claim that the early migration of the wild geese means.a long and cold winter.
The Albion street tair will be continudd and will hold their Annual meeting on the week of September 11 1912. Dr. John W. Morr bas been elected president; Dr. W, L. Cowan, vige-president; Albert Black, treasurer: and J. C. Kimmell. gecretary. Not withstanding the bad weather avd a lot of local knockers, the fair was a financial success this year having a neagt ballance in the treasary. ‘ .
The building committee are now cousidering new plans for the EKElk’s lodge building andditis sgfe to assume that they wil made entirely satisfactory to all-concerped. It is now too late to hmild but all of the details will be conjipleted at an early day 8o that wofk can be begun on the structure at an early date in the gpring. Several weeks ago some one started tha etory that a young son had been bon to Mrs. Mable Adee Mier at the home in Sacramsanto, Cal. At the time Mg, Mier’s friends discredited the report but the scandal mong continued to roll the dirty story over their tongues until many -people accepted it.as the truth. In a letter to a friend in this city Mrs. Mier denounced the whole story a fabriation without any foundation in fact or eyen in suspicion. She’is indignant that such a dirty scandalshould be repeated by people who pussed as her friends How a story of that kind can be started and then told as the truth is' beyond comprehenston. . ; o o

While attending the street fair in this city, last Saturday she became insane and was takenj to the jail by Sheriff Stanley.
