Monroe Swihart, a deaf mute, was instantly killed by aB. & O. freight at St. Joe, DeKalb county, last week. Mr Swihart and wife were accompanying two of their nephéws to the station that they might eatech the 10:54 eastbound passenger train. They had left their horses standing on the north side of the tracks, and as the freight train approached they became frightened. Mr. Swihart noticed this, but being a deaf mute, did not hear nor did he see the approaching train, and he hurried across the tracks directly in front of an approaching train. |

Earl M. Russell, aged 23, and who resided with his parents at Wawaka, was killed ar Lagone last week. He was employed by the Lake Shore Co. as fireman on a locomotive hauling a work train. The young man left the cab and without looking to the west for an approaching train, started to eross the main track. Before he realized what had happened he was hit, dying instantly.
