meetings which they have been holding for the last month or so. They had special services including the washing of feet of the eleet which drew a large crowd from the surrounding country to see the unique performance. Last week I drew attention toa rowdy affair that occurred at a late hour one Saturday night. The affair was characterized chiefly by the amount of obscene and profane language bandied back and forth by those engaged in it. The hour was so late that no self respecting member of society would be seen in the crowd. The kids who started the affair should all have been in bed and the others would have been better engaged at home looking after ‘their families. The question has been often asked duringgthe last ten days why that kind of people are not arrested? We have the means of administering the law then why not do it? The feelieg is running high among the better class of citizens that these things ought not and shall not oceur. It is altogether unseemly and entirely uncalled for and the sooner an end is put to the matter the better it will be for all concerned. A very pretty surprise party was given last Saturday evening by a committe on entertainment to their Macabee sisters and quite a few of their friends in the lodge room. Beyond the usual cake and ice cream, the committee with the aid of Mrs. Jack Green, had eight little misses all dressed up as witches, and with a big kettle in the center of the room, they went through all the incantations that witches are supposed to g& through. The witches were Misses Lucile Thomas, Ruth McMann, Mae Shearer, Vera Maggart, Ruth MeDowal, Corine 'Pollock, Merrice Sharp and Lena Lecount; who sang and danced splendidly. Miss Hazel Hurses gave a recisation in first class style which added much to the company’s enjoyment. ' The affair was quite unique and coming as a surprise added zest to the entertainment. ;i

Horse, buggy and harness were saved by willing hands but the barn valued at $2OO and contents at about $5O, covered by insurance, went up in smoke.
