DR S R Aot M 0 B T B B S R Opening of Rosebud Indian Reservation » South Daliota. President Roosevelt- has signed the proclamation throwing open for homestead settlement 416,000 acres of land in Gregory county, South Dakota. Atpresent this land is held by the Indians, and is known as The Rosebud Reservation. . . ; ' ‘ . Registration for these lands will begin early in July, and Chamberlain and Yankton have been designated as the points of registry. Chamberlain is point of final entry. The land is valuable for diversified farming, and corn is the principal crop. Portions of Gregory county that are too rough for farming are well adapted for raising eattle and hogs—a profitable’ occupation in South Dakota. : Improved farm land outside the reservation sells for $25; unimproved farm land for $l5; grazing land for $lO an acre. v : : Registry for these valuable lands will take place at Chamberlain and Yankton, July sto July 23,1904. Permits to go on the reservation will be issued there. n o ‘ 7 The Way to the Rosebud Reservation. Chamberlain, Platte, Geddes and Yankton, S. D., are the best points from which to enter the reservation. The drawing to determine order in which persons may make entry for homestead lands will be held at Chamberlain, commencing July 28. : » : Chamberlain is one of the points of registry (the first process in taking up land), and the seat of the Government Land Office, where final entry for lands on the reservation must be made. It is a town of over 2,000 inhabitants, and it has for a number of years been the favorite entry point of cattlemen and landmen to the trans-Missouri section of South Dakota. It is well equipped to take care of those who will visit the Rosebud reservation. It has one large brick hotel and a dozen smaller ones, and a score of livery stables. Best of all, there is a steamboat line running down the Missouri River from Chamberlain directly to the reservation, a distanee of thirty miles. Two steamboats will make this trip during the summer, and afferd convenient and comfortable transportation to the land opened for settlement. ‘There is also a pontoon bridge.across the Missouri River at Chamberlain for the use of those who prefer horses or teams to the boats. The roads are excellent. = _ ! ; Chamberlain is the western terminus of the Towa and Dakota division of the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway. ) Platte, S. D., is twelve miles from the reservation. There 18 a good ferry across the Missouri River about twelve miles west of the town, and the roads are good. The population is about 1,200, and there are a half dozen hotels (one new one) and liveries. It is the northern terminus of the line of the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway from Sioux City and Yankton, 150 miles northwest of Sioux City. ' Geddes, S. D., is on the latter line, eleven miles nearer Sioux City. It is a most accessible point for landseekers going to the Rosebud reservation. There is a good ferry across the Missouri River twelve miles southwest of Geddes, and the trip to the reservation can be quickly and comfortably made. The roads are good. Geddes has been the center of a big land movement during the last five years and is well equipped to handle landseekers. There is one three-story brick hotel and a dozen smaller ones. There are a dozen good livery stables. - ' : , Yankton, S. {)., is another point designated by the government as a point ofiregistry for lands on the Rosebud reservation. 1t is sixty-one miles northwest of Sioux City, on the Platte line, and 578 miles from Chicago. One can leave Chieago at 6.05 p. m. and arrive at Yankton the next noon, or leave /Chieago at 10:256 p. m. and reach Yankton at 7:15 p. m. the next day. Yankton has a population of 5,000, three banks, four newspapers, two large brick hotels and a dozen smaller ones. It is also the starting point for a number of stage lines, and the livery facilities are excellent. / From Yankton to Geddes is 76.6 miles, and from Yankton to Platte, 88.5 miles. | : Train Service to South Dakota.' - | _ From Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul, Minneapolis, Kansas City,'Omaha, Rock Island, Davenport, Dubuque, Des Moines and Sioux City, as well as from other points in Illinois, Minnesota, lowa and Missouri, direct service to South Dakota is offered via the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway. Its main lines and branch lines fairly gridiron the rich, agricultural and stock country that lies east of the Missofri River in South Daketa. The mileage of the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway in South Dakota is more té)a.n 1,200 miles, and by the building of extensionsis beingTapidly increased. , : ; - You can leave Chicago via Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway any evening and reach most any point in South Dakota,as far as Chamberlain, Geddes, Yankton or Platte, the next afternoon. Sleeplessness Is a Sign of Nerve Trouble and Should Be Looked To. There are three different manifestations of sleeplessness. ; First, hardly to sleep a wink all night, second, to lig, awake a long time before falling asleep; third, to fall asleep soon, waking up after several hours and then find it hard to sleep again. They mean that somewhere lin the nerve fibrés, somewhere in the brain cells, somewhere in the blood wessels that carry blood to the brain, something is radically wrong, and must be righted, or the end may be worse than death. To right it, take Dr. Miles’ Nervine. Some other symptoms of nerve trouble are: Dizziness, Headache, Backache, Worry, Fretfulness, Irritability, Melancholy, Lack of Ambition. s They indicate disedses which may lead to Epilepsy, Fits, St. Vitus’ Dance, Nervous Prostration, Paralysis, Insanity. Nothing will give such quick and lasting relief as Dr. Miles’ Nervine. ‘“My husband had been sick for weeks, could not sit up to have his bed made. ‘With all the miedical help we could get he continued to grow worse. He could neither sleep or eat. Our baby girl was sent away, and all callers barred, because he could not stand a bit of talking. I read of a case of nervous prostration cured by Dr. Miles’ Restorative Nervine. We began giving it to him, and in a few days he was able to be dressed. From that time he steadily improved. Nervine saved his life.”’— MRS. A. G. HASKIN, Freeville, N. Y. FREE Write to us for Free Trial Package of Dr. Miles! AntiPain Pills, the New Scientific Remedy for Pain. Also Symptom Blank. Deafness Cannot Be Cured

By local applications, as they cannot reach the diseased portion of the ear. There is only one way to cure deafness, and that is by constitutional remedies. Deafness is caused by an inflamed condition of the mucous lining of the Eustachian Tube. When this tube is inflamed you have a rumbling sound or imperfect hearing, and when it is entirely closed, deafness is the result, and unless the inflammation can be taken out and this tube restored to its normal condition, hearing will be destroyed forever; nine cases out of ten are caused by Catarrh, which is nothing but an inflamed condition of the mucous surfaces.
