. The Michigan Marriage Law. A Michigan paper claims that there is a very weak spot in the new marriage law of that state. ‘lt is designed to lessen the chances of eommitting crime, and to a certain extent it will do this. Of course he can tell all about any impediment which affects him personally, and can be punished if he swears falsely, but how will he know about his intended bride? It will be.all hearsay, and no punishment can be inflicted on him for his statements in this connection if they are not correct. The woman in the case is not required to make an affidavit at all, and ' the minister, or other person performing the marriage ceremony, need not ask any questions, nor, need the bride answer any.”
