THE CADWALLADER E;ILL. =, « Air:~YANKEE DOODLE. - We as a nation do intend, : As far as our knowledge goes, ’ Our wisest men to Congress send, - And for our Legislature choose. . ‘But now and then, yeu know of course, Mistakes will sometimes happen ; : ‘We send a man we think has force, . Who proves a very bad one. . For instance there’s Cadwallader’s bill To make the engine screech; . The ears of all mankind to fill ; : _ ’Tis far worse than the itch, - = L And when they’re going thro’ a town,: From crossing unto crossing ; The engineer must screech and frown, 'Tis worse than bedlam cursing. ‘lf Cadwallader ’s a man for noise, And likes to hear commotion, . We'd like to have him sit astride i A railroad locomotion. E And then we think he’ll get his fill ~ Of howling, roaring, screeching, : And wish that his infernal bill * Was in the infernal regions. Cadwallader is as big a fool . - : As ever held an office ; ? In the Legislature of our State He’s proved a peilect craw-fish., They’d ought to send him a tin horn, A banjo and a trumpet ; A tamboreen and big bass drum, And a little boy to thump it. T O railroad men and employes, “When you pass his place, remember ° To blow your horn and ring your bell, And give him perfect thunder. . For that is what he says he likes ; It give him great amusement ; But by and by no doubt ’twill strike Him that it-is a big nuisance. B % ; ; . A. O. OSBORN. WAWAKA, IND., June 27, 1879.

The premium list of the Kosciusko Countly Fair, which will be held September 24-27, has just been issued in elegant style by the Warsaw Indéanian. According to the assessor’s reports, LaGrange county raised, last .year, 119,476 more bushels of grain and fruit “than St. Joseph county. The only thing in which the latter county materially excels ours is in home-made manufactures, which: ig reported at $3,905, 296, about twice the value of all her other products of the year, as also of all other products of this county during last year.—ZLaGrange Standard.
We warn our brethren of the press to be on thelook out for one G. F. Rich, who is traveling over the country giving laundry entertainments, showing the art of starching, ironing, &c. He is a dead beat. He skipped out without paying his hall rent in this place and left an unsettled printing bill of $3.26 at this office. At a meeting of the Elkhart Drive Well Association, “it was determined,” says the Review, “to push the appeal from the lasi decision. (Sullivan Democrat.) : The late speeches of Senator Voorhees have fired the loyal heart, and a vigorous effort has been made to revive the:animosities of the war period against him. Monday night the “trooly loil” arranged to have a meeting of soldiers 'in Terre Haute to express their feelings towards Mr. V. Demociatic soldiers as well as republican attended, and wanted to take part, to which the “trooly loil” objected; but the result was that a committee of s x was appointed to prepare resolutions expressive of the feelings-of the soldiers toward Senator Voorhees, consisting of two Nationals, two Democrats, and two Republicans, and the meeting adjourned to await the call of the committee. We have no doubt Nick Filbeck had a string of cut-and-dried resolutions, but they would not probably suit the committee as finally constituted.
