' The Resumption Epech. : WASHINGTON, Jan. 2.—The second day of specie resumption was not marked by an incident out of the ordinary at the treasury department. The demaunds .for 'gold at the banks amounts to nothing. The banks aeccommodate their customers in giving them small sums when they are called for. The silver pieces are greatly preferred for small change.

WHEREAS, He has left a bereaved widow and orphans to mourn hisloss; therefore . Resolved, That while we bow with becoming meekness before the Grand Master on high for His great mysterious Providence that He has visited our fraternal circle, yet we truly lament the decease of our beloved Brother, fully realizing that the fraternity has lost, in the death of Brother Stagse, ,one of its most efficient members; society, one of its most worthy citizens, but most of all, his bereaved wife and children, have lost a kind husband and an affectionate father, whose presence ‘and fostering care must be forever missed from the home circle. Further —we truly recognize, and fully appreciate the many noble virtues and deplore deeply with all our hearts the loss *of our deceased worthy brother, and will ever seek to emulate his virtues. ' | :

Resolved, That the bereaved widow and orphans of the deceased, in this, their hour of deep affliction, have our heartfelt sympathies and most ardent wishos for their future happiness and well being—both for time and' for eternity. @We would gladly, it we could, give consolation; but this power belongs to Him who ¢ontrols our destinies, and who has promised to be a husband to ithe widow and a father to the fatherless. We would therefore -implore His greatest blessing to rest upon the afflicted family of our beloved brother. It is therefore Resolved, That Ligonier Lodge, No. 185, be draped in mourning for the term of sixty days and that these resolutions be published in THE NATIONAL BANNER, and a copy furnished to the family of the deceased. ; : HENRY HOSTETTER, JOHN ABDILL, ih + "E.B.GERBER.

; That Musical Convention. Ep. BANNER:—I have just returned from Broadway, where 1 attended the musical cenvention, conducted by Prof. J. F.
