/ LARGE LAND SALE.—Straus Bros. last week made another purchase of a large tract of land (440 aeres) in the best locality of the Hawpatch, five miles north-east of Ligonier, from Horatio Gale, of Albion, Mich. The land is divided into three separate farms, each well improved, and classed among the best of that loeality. -
These farms were a few years since purchased by Mr. Geo. H. Gale for the purpose of laying outa “ra%lroad town” —the machine shops of the then projected Canada Southern Railway being largely calculated upon by those occupying confidential relations to the controlling spirits of that ill-fated enterprise. 15
It- is perhaps needless to say that Mr. Gale lost . largely by his investment. He paid at the rate of $lOO per acre; what he. realized subsequently, upon turning the property over to his brether Horatio, we are not in position to state. Suffice it to say that his losses have swept away an estate of about $60,000. e As real estate operators the Straus Bros. have but few superiors. They probably buy and sell more real estate than any other firm' in. Northern Indiana. Amply provided with ready cash, they observe opportunities te huy at such figures as will enable them to either hold the property to advantage or sell on long time, to suit purchasers.. The purchase of the Gale farms shows that they are as ready to buy four or five hundred acres “in a lump” as a 60-acre tract—provided,always, that prices can be made to suit;
In making the above purchase, the Straus Bros. also bought all the personal property of Mr, Gale, including a large quantity of the latest improved machinery and farm implements. See their card for further particulars. =

To make a county paper a success and meet the large out-lay of money each week, it is absolutely necessary that the patrons do not allow their accounts with the publishers to stand delinquent for months, but on the contrary, as with subscriptions to all foreign papers, the same should be paid strictly in advance,”

NEW HEADQUARTERS. —Selig Brothers opened their new meat market-in the Union Hall building, Monday, with a frée lunch. A BANNER reporter happened around about lunch time, and, after stowing away an enormous quantity of bread, leverwurst, etet, the thought struck him almost as suddenly as the lunch did. that a brief description of the*interior would be acceptable to the publie. As you enter the room you are favorably impressed with its handsome appearance. The meat room proper is handsomely finished with walnut and ash, and is divided by a marble top counter, also finished with walnut and ash. On the north side of the room is a large‘,mea,t rack, and on the south a small private office. Three large meat blocks on the floor, and a ‘handsome chandelier hanging in the center. This comprises the furniture. Back of this room is the refrigerator room, and still back of that yet is the engine room in which a steam engine will be erected to furnish power for the making of sausage, etc. After all this, taking in the handsome frent with its I#ge plate glass, we need but songratulate our citizens upon having such. energetic business men as the Messrs. Selig Brothers. THE BANNER certainly wishes them success in their new and elegant quarters. L

After witnessing the success that attends the practice of Drs. Price & Brewer, we can but speak of them as thorough and efficient practltiofxera. We have for many years observed Drs. Price & Brewer steadily advancing their favorite doctrine for the cure of chronic ailments, and dissem-. inating the principles which they concede to be the true, scientific and unerring basis of medical practice. We know that Drs. Price & Brewer are not of those one-idea all-idea and noidea doctors who exist but for a day, they seem to be of more enduring material, free and clear. from ‘medical fashions and superstitions with an independent system of their own drawn from the secrets of nature and common sense. Devoted as they have been for so many years to the treatment of certain chronic diseases, with all the qualities for skillful physicians they could not be otherwise than successful. :
