EAST SPARTA INKLINGS. .

_The general health of this community is ezgggedingly good. ‘

The farmers are about all done huskingeotn;,” = = & - o Nelson Ballah, one of the Broadway sportsmen, killed a large deer near the Washington twp. line a few days ago. We heard something about a hard fought battle in East Sparta recently. At last accounts both parties were speedily recovering. ot

The Spartans have selected,deo}ge H. Lane, Esq., to teach their winter term of school. He taught the same schocl last winter, and in our opinion no better choice cpuii'd have been made for this season’s work. He has experience, and is co.isidered one of the best teachers in west Noble, .

Mr. Charles Fitzhugh, who moved from Sparta'to Wiseonsin a few years ago, has returned with his family and intends to make this county his home. We noticed, during our absence, that Broadway was represented| in the columns of THE BANNER, and hope to hear from him again.

We attended the:teachers’ institute at Cromwell last Saturday. - The next institute will: be held at the Sparta achool house on the 9th of December.

. Sparta has beén very quiet since the election, although they are a littleanx10us to know the result. =

We learn that the night before the election a certain party became very boisterous, so much so that his better half concluded to call in the neighbors, but he gave her to understand that he -was in no humor to entertain company that evening, and, marching out, 'with one blow of his ax brought down his dinper bell, breaking one of the iroris. The next day he went to the polls and labored hard for his favorite candidate for the Presidency, just as though nothing had happened. It is annoying to hear them whisper so loud and so often, and we hope to hear no more of lit. “ Cheese the racket.” _.Elder Winebrenner will minister to the spiritual wants of the people round about Broadway Chapel on the fifth Sabbath of December, instead of the fourth, (his regular time), as he is engaged to hold a series of meetings at some other point at that time, and it will be impossible for him to be present. i

Samuel Bray shot a large red fox near Spa;‘ta Lake on “Mnndiay.‘ Sam is considered a successful hunter.

~ As the long winter evenings draw on apace, we come to the conclusion that a copy ot THE BANNER should be in every. household. Now is the time to subscribe. 2 {

-Sleighs and plows, in Sparta, are exceedingly high; at least several that we saw were way up. Boys, you had better take them down, or you may get into trouble. Don’t forget it. Tuesday last business was very lively ‘at Cromwell. Eight car loads of hogs were delivered there from the surrounding country. Some of ithem were brought.a distance of 15 miles. J. W. Wyland and wife, of Ligonier, ‘have returned from a visit to relatives in Green county, 0.. A brother of Mr. Ww. accm‘r'_xpan-ied him on his return, and will rem-rti‘n:here dtlrgllg the winter. Tliey réport having enjoyed themselves hugely. L P Orlyndo Kimmell is buying up alot of cattle to feed during the winter.— He fed over 80 head last winter, together with a lot of porkers. Mr. K. is considered one of the most successful farmers in this section. ' The Spartans have all returned from their visit to the Centennial, and all report themselves well pleased with everything they saw. We were among the last that went, together with about 25 from Albion, but think we saw as much .as those who went first. We had intended to write a brief history of the trip, but not having any opportunity to send it in until this late date, we will now let it pass. ' SPARTAN, .
