Answer to Mathematical Problem. - REQUIRED, The cube root of 91125, to use no more figures than will'equal the quotient. T. SOUTHWORTH. The author of the above allows us only two figures in the solution of his problem, for there must not be more “than will equal the quotient,” and the quotient consists of two figures. We go him two better. The number is a perfect cube and ends in 5, and the cube of 4 being the greatest number contained in 91, it follows that 4 must be the Ist figure of the root. Hence 45 is the cube root of 91125. Applying this principle, the -cube root of 1157625 is found to be 105. Thus cube root is easily extracted by inspection. ‘ e ‘ VERO.
