o 0 SRCTTON (F-TRUSTEES, : Pe it ordained by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Ligonier, County of Noble, and State of Indiana, That the duties herein prescribed, and rules and regulations herein provided, be and are hereby adopted for the government of the Board of Trustees of said town, its officers, and officers connected with the government of said towmn : SECTION 11-——PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD. The President of the Board of Trusteés shall, during the sessions of the Board, be governed by the rules, and generplly perform the duties of the presiding efticer, in legislative or deliberative assemblies he shall have the right tp vote on all questions before the Board; he may, in the manner hereinafter provided, call special meetings of the Board, at such times as he may deem necessary and proper; he shall sign all warrants drawn on' the Town Treasury; he shall duly sigln cach ordinance adopted by the Board at«the time he approves the same, and shall likewisé signe the record of each ordinance after the same is recorded.
SECTION III—TOWN CLERK. ' The Town Clerk shall, during the sessions of the Board, be governed by tlie rules, and generally perform the duties of the recording officer, of delibera-] tive or legislative assemblies, so far as may be applicable; he shall keep a) record of the proceédings of the Board, which shall econtain full, true and complete entries of all the ofticial aets, doings and proceedings of the Board, which record shall be duly and properly signed by him; he shall draw all orders.or warrants upon the treasury of the town, which, after being siened by the President, shall be attested by him; he shall attest each ordinance, when adopted and signed by the President, and also attest the record of thie same after it is. recorded; he shall record all ordinances within a reagonable time after their adoption by the Board, in a book kept for that purpose, noting in the minutes of the meeting when the saie was passed the pages of the Ordinance Record where such ordinance is recorded; he shall keep a register of all accounts and claims against the town,. which, after being allowed by the Board, shall be properly classified and copied in a book kept for that purpose; he shall properly file every paper ar document presented to said Board by any member or other person, after making the proper endorsement thereon; he shall keepy in a book provided for that purpose, a full accouns of all the expenditures, of the Town Board as shown by the orders issued on the Treasury or otherwise; also an account of all the receipts, either from taxes, licenses, permits, or otherwise, and shall at, the end of each corporatiou year publish an abstract thereof, in the manner provided by law; he shall make out the annual tax-list and the tax-dupli-cate, and discharge all other duties required of him by the Board and properly pertaining to his office.
SECTION IV—TREASURER. The Town Treasurer shall receive all moneys due to, and colleeted for, the town, and pay out the same only upon orders of the Board of Trustees properly’ drawn andattested; he s]mllireport to said Board at their regular meeting in eaclimonth, the receipts and. cipenditures of his office, to the date of his report {or that month; he shall at the last regular meeting of the Board before the annual election, report to the Board a full, true and complete account of the finanees of said town for the year ending April 30th, showing the amount 9f receipts and expenditures, from what sources and for what purposes, and the balance/on hand. - / i SECTION V—ASSESSOR. | ~ The Assessor of said town -shall annually, on or ifter the first day of April, proceed to make a fair list in-alphabetical order of all persons in said town snbject to a poll tax for State and county purposes for that year; also of all lots -or fractional lots in siid town, partiewlarly noting the names of the owners theércof in alphabetical order, with the number and description thereof; and shall assess and place in a column for that purpose, first, the value of the lot or part.of lot; second, the value of the improvements thereon; also assess and place in a proper column_opposite each owner’s name the aggregate value of =personal property, moneys, rights, credits and effects, bonds and stocks, held on the first day of April of that year; also in a proper column carry out and place the total valuation of the property, real and personal, so assessed to each person, or persons, corporation, soeiety, or association; said Assessor, in making his assessment, shall make the same inquiries and be governed by the same rules and regulations that govern the county assessor in making. assess‘ment for State and county purposes. -He shall make return of his assessment-roll to the office of the Town Clerk, on or before the last Friday of the said month of April, unless the time for making said return be extended by the Board. M SECTION VI—TOWN MARSHAL. " -, The Marshal of said Town shall attend each meet‘ing of the Board,and er}(bcute all theorders, ordinances and resolutions of the Board; it shall be his duty especially to see that all the town ordinances are duly and propetly enforced; ase all lawful.means to preserve the peace and order of the town, and suppress affrays, riots ov other breaches or disturbances of the peace and order of the town; he shall serve all notices, orders and resolutions, or copies, when directed by the Board, and make return of the same to the oflice of the Town Clerk; he may, with the consent of said Board, at any regular or special meeting, appoint one or more deputies, being responsible for the correct discharge of their duties, which appointment shall be in writing, having the consent of said Board endorsed thereon; 'he shall report at each, regular meeting the amount of moneys received and from what sources, and shall pay over the same. to the Treasurer, who shall receipt to him therefor; he shall report all estimates of material required for the use of the town before purchasing; he shall report to the Board at each meeting during the period of working road-labor tax, the names and number of persons who have performed labor in discharge of road-tabor tax, for whom said road-labor was done and the time each of such persons have worked, and whether such work has been performed by personal and manual service, or by teams, and generally perform all duties required of him by law or order of the Board, pertaining to his office. |
SECTION VII—ATTORNEY. The Attorney of the Town shall be the legal adviser of all the officers of the town in relation to their official acts, and shall advise the Board of Trustees upon all matters of law which may be submitted to him in reference to the ‘action. of such Board; he shall draw all contraets, ordinances and legal documents which may be required of him by the Board; prosecute all actions in favor of the town and defend all actionsbrought against the town, and do and perform all other acts pertaining to the duties of his office. =, 'SECTION VIII—PROCEEDINGS OF THE BOARD. ~The Proceedings of the Board shall be written in a book, to be kept for that purpose by the Clerk, and he shall enter therein, at length, all petitions and remonstrances -with the names of ;all the signers ~thereto; also:all reports, motions, orders and resolu- " tions of instructions or directions to the officers of the town; which orders or resolutions of instruction to such oflicers shall be copied by the Clerk, who shall certify to the correctness of the same, under his hand and seal of the town, and deliver the same to such officers within three days after the adjournment of the Board., . _ SECTION IX—REGULAR MEETINGS. ; The Regular Meetings of the Board shall be on the last Friday of each month; the session of the Board to open at 9A. M. Adjourned meetings may be held when ordered at a regular meeting. . SECTION X—-——SPE()IAL' MEETINGS. Special Meetings may be called by the President, or any two members of the Board in case the President shall fail to issue such c¢all, whenever the inter-| ests of the town require; the call for such special meeting shall be in writing, naming the time, place ‘and objects of said meeting, which notice shall be by the Marshal served on each of the members of the Board who may not have joined in issuing the call, and also upon the Clerk; and no other business shall be transacted at said meeting except named in such notice. B ; ; ol SECTION XI—QUORUM. i . Three members shall constitute a quorum at any meeting. b ' SECTION XII—ABSENCE OF PRESIDENT. In the absence of the President at any meeting the members present may choose from one of their number a President pro tempore, who shall for the time ‘being be authorized to perform all the duties and powers of the President. SECTION XIV—OFFICERS AND THEIR SUCCESSORS. Each officer in going out of office shall turn over to his successor, when qualified, all the books, papers, records and documents, of every. deseription, belonging to the town, in his office or under his eontrol. SECTION XV—ORDINANCES TO BE PUBLISHED. All Ordinances shall be numbered in the order of their passage, from one upward, and shall be published for two successive weeks in any newspaper printed in said town, except where. otherwise provided by law such publication may be dispensed with. ' SECTION XVI—VOTES TO BE RECORDED. In the passage of all ordinances the number and title thereof with date shall be noted on the minutes. ahd the yeas and nays shall be called by the Clerk, and the names of the members voting “yea” and “nay” respectively, recorded by the Clerk. e SECTION XVII—AFFIDAVIT OF PUBLICATION., The Town Clerk shall procure the affidavit of (the publisher, or of his foreman printer or clerk, of the newspaper wherein such. ordinance shall have been published, which aflidavit shall certify the dates of the several publications 'of any ordinance, having a copy of the same thereto annexed, which affidavit ‘ shall be by him filed among the records of his oflice.

SECTION XVIII—TAX LEV¥Y. ‘ The Board of Trustees shall annually, on the Monday next preceding the third Tuesday of fMay, determine the amount of general tax for the current year, and levy the same upon the taxables and taxable property of said town; and the rate of percentage on the assesseéd: value of taxable property owned by each person; and it shall be the duty of the Clerk to apportion and assess the amount of tux.,uqcording to such rate of percentage, that each taxable is liable to pag, amd enter the same on the tax-list, within such time as the Board may order. - e SECTION XIX—CERTIFICATES OF ELECTION, | At each election of oflicers for said town a certificate of the persons elected to the several oflices in said town, under the 'hands of the inspectors and attested by the clerks of the election, and of the same form and substance as the certificate to be filed with the Clerk of the Court, shall be, with the poll list and tally-sheet, filed with the Town Clerk within five days after said election; and the oaths of oflice of the respective officers shall be endorsed on, or attached to, said certificate of election; and in case of appointment to any oflice, the oath of oflice of the appointee shall be endorsed on his certificate of appointment. : , ' SECTION XX~—COMPENSATION. The compensation of the several town oflicers and Town: Trustees shall be as follows: - Compensation of Trustees—Y¥or each day engaged in the service of the town, attending meetings of the Board, superintending work on the streets, sidewalks and alleys, and all other services actually performed, per day, $1.50. ; Of Clerk.—~For a‘étcnding meetings of the Board, per day, $1.50; keeping the minutes of the proceedings of the Board, recording ordinances, making out tax list and tax duplicate, for each 100 words 15 cts.; for all other services rendered the town, the Board shall make such extra allowance as may be proper, not exceeding one hundred dollars per annum for his entire services. - L ‘ Of Treasurer.—'The compensentation of the Treas‘urer shall be one percentum on the aggregate sums paid into the Treasury. ; id Of Marshal—The compensation of the Marshal shall be Five undred Dollars per annum, payable monthly, and all fees due said officer by any law or ordinance shall be paid into the town treasury for l use of the town. | o
Of Assessor—The compensation of the Assessor shall be Two Dollars per day for each day’s actual service, e s Of Attorney.—ln all prosecutions or suits for the recovery of fines or forfeitures for the violation of any ordinance in a plea of guilty the Attorney’s fee shall be One Dollar and One-Half; and in a plea of not guilty, Three Dollars, to be paid out of the fine assessed by the justice or jury; and an allowance of Fifty Dollars per annum for all other services:required of him in transacting the legal business of the Town Board, as required by law or the ordinances of the town. , : ! Of Fire Wardens.—The compensation of the Fire Wardens shall be One Dollar and Fifty Cents per day for services actually performed. ; : Of Board of Health.— The compensation of the members of the Board,of ITealth shall be Ten Dollars each per annum.” ~ ! ‘Passed and approved, May 20th, 1874. : JOHN B. TOWN ORDINANCE NUMBER TWO, Defining the Number and Lstablishing the Boundaries of the T'own Districts. , : | Be it ordained by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Ligonier, Indiana: : . SECTION I—TOWN DISTRICTS. s That the Town of Ligonier, Noble county, Indiana, be and is hereby divided into Five Districts for the purpose of electing officers for said town. : SECTION lI—FIRST DISTRICT. That all that part of tlie town lying south of Sixth street shall comprise the First District. : _ SECTION lII—SECOND DISTRICT. ! All that part of the town lying north of Sixth street and south of Fourth street and of thé line in continuation of theline of said Fourth street to the eastern and western limits of the town, shall comprise the Second District. : : SECTION IV—THIRD DISTRICT. All that part of.the town lying north of Fourth street and of the line in continuation of -the line of said street to the eastern and western limits of the town, and south of Second and Broadway streets, and of the line in continuation of the line of said Second street to the eastern limit of the town, shall comprise the Third District. i : : SECTION V—FOURTH DISTRICT. All that part of the town lying north of Broadway and Second streets and of the line in continuation of the liné of said Second street, and south of the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railroad, shall comprise the Fourth District. = i ' SECTION VI—FIFTIH DISTRICT. : All that part of the town lying morth of the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railroad, shall comprise the Fifth District. » Passed and approved, May 29th, 1874. : .+ JOHN B. Be it ordained by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Ligonier: : SecTION-I.—That any person who, having a pres- | ent ability, shall unlawfully attempt to cominit a violent injury on the person of another, within said town, shall be deemed guilty- of disorderly conduct, and upon conviction may be fined in any sum not exceeding ten: dollars. : = SEC. IL—Any person who shall in a rude, insolent, or angry manner, unlawfully touch another, within said town, shall be deemed guilty of disorderly con-duct-and upon conviction shall be fined in any sum: not exceeding ten dollars. , ‘ . Sec.lrn—lf three or more persons shall meet together to do any unlawful act upon a common cause, and shall make advances towards the commission thereof, within said town, shall be deemed guilty of disorderly conduct; and upon conviction, shall be fined not exceeding ten dollars. SEC. Iv.—lf two or more ‘persons, by agreement, fight in any public place within said town, the person so offending shall be deemed guilty of disorderly | conduct, and shall be fined in any sum not exceeding | ten dollars. - | SEC. v.—lf three or more persons shall do an gct in a violent or tumultuous manner within said town, they shall be deemed guilty of disorderly conduct, -and upon conviction, shall be fined not exceeding ten idollars. . .- e ) ~ SEC: vi—Every person found in any public act of prostitution, within the limits of said town, shall, on ~conviction of such offense, be fined in any sum not exceeding ten dollars, e SEC. ¥ll.—Any person who shall within said tgwn, publicly expose his or her naked person, or do any -act which is unbecoming in language or in manners, or which is immodest or offensive to delicacy, shall be deemed guilty of disorderly conduet, and, upon conviction thereof, shall be fined in any sum not exceeding ten dollars. S g SEC. vilL.—Any person who shall in the day time, betfiéeensunrise and half an; hour after sunset, enter the Elkhart river at any point opposite the original | plat, or Miller’s addition, in said town, for the purpose of bathing or swimming, shall be deemed guilty of disorderly conduct, and, upon convietion thereof,
shall be fined in any sum not, exceeding five dotars. * SEC. IX.—Any person who shall keep a house of illfame or prostitution in said town, shall, upon conviction thereof, he fined in any sum not exceeding ten dollars. : 1 © SEC. X.—Any party being the owner of, or the agent for renting ‘any building in said town, who shall knowingly rent or suffer the same to be used as a house of jll-fame or prostitution, shall, upon conviction thereof, be fined in apy sum not less than five nor more than ten dollars! SEC. Xl.—Any person who shall publiely exhibit in said town any stallion, jack or bull; or keep or let, or suffer or cause to be kept or let, any such stallion, Jack or bull, to. publicly cover any mare, jennet or cow within said town, shall, upon conviction thereof, be fined in any sum not exceeding ten dollars. SEC. XlL—Any person who shall purposely and without lawful excuse discharge any fire-arm within said town, shall, upon conviction, be fined 'in any sum not exceeding ten dollars. S ‘SEC. xli.—Any person who shall run or trot a horse, or knowingly suffer his horse to be run or trotted, in a horse race along any street or alley within said town, shall, upon conviction, be fined in any sum not exceeding ten dollars. : k i . SEC. Xlv.—Any jperson-who shall within said town publish, vend or efi‘q)dse to sale, or expose to public view, any obscene book, pamphlet, hand-bill, newspaper, placard, painting, lithograph, engraving, drawing, sculpture, cast or other figure, upon conviction, shall be fined in any sum not exceeding ten dollars. SEC. Xv.—Any owner or occupant of any building in said town who shall knowingly suffer or 'permit the same to be used for' the purpose of gambling, shall, upon conviction, be tined in any sum not exceeding ten dollars. ' : SEC. XVl—Any person or persons who shall bet or wager anything of any value upon the result of any game at cards, dice or billiards,/within said town; or any person who shall play at any such game of cards, dice or billiards within said town, where anything of any value is to' be lost or.won by the result of such game, shall, upon conviction, be‘deemed guilty of disorderly conduct and fined in any sum not exceeding ten dollars. SEC. XVIL—Any person who shall unnecessarily ride or drive, or cause to be. ridden or’ driven, any horse or other animal, or who shall unnecessarily drive or cause to be driven any vehicle drawn by’any horse or animal, along any street, lane, alley, common or unenclosed grounds, within said town, faster than at the rate of six miléslan hour, shall, upon conviction, be fined in any sum not exceeding ten | dollars. :
SEC. XVIIL—Any person who shall. by any means unnecessarily collect together a erowd or number of persons on any sidewalk, street or alley in said town, s 0 as to obstruet the free passage of the same, shall, upon conviction, be fined in any sum not exceeding ten dellars. s g - ’ SEC. XlX.—Any person who shall unnecéssarily place or, being the owner thereof, permit to be placed, any box, t{fmber, wood, plank, boards, agricultural, farming 'Qi* other implements, or machinery, upon any sidewalk, street or alley to the obg:truction of the free and full use of such street! sidewalk or alley, within said town, shall, upon convietion, be fined in any sum not exceeding ten dollars. j ‘ SEC. XX.—Any person who shall, without competent authority, cut, mark, deface, or otherwise injure any house, building, fence, gate, door or sign, within said town; or who shall take and remove from its proper or usual place, any fence, gate, door or sign within said town, shall, upon conviction, be fined in any sum not exceeding ten dollars. A SEC. XXI.—- Any person,who shall_have in charge any horse, mule or ox to which is attached any vehicle, and who shall permit sueh horse, mule or ox to stand or travel on any street or alley in said town without securely hitching or holding, or causing such animal to be securely hitched or held, shall, upon conviction, be fined in any sum not exceeding ten dollars. i ‘ 2
SEC. XXlL.—Every owner of any dwelling house, or other building of any kind whatever in said town, shall procure and keep upon the premises where such house or -building is situated, a good and suitable ladder, long enough to reach the roof of‘the highest building thereon (if there he more than one on sueh premises). lln case of failure of having such ladder on such premises at all, times, the owner thereof shall; upon convietion, be fined the sum of two dollars. ! foe e _ SEC. XXIL—Any person firing, or causing to be fired, on any street, alley, lot or yard in said town, any shavings, hay, straw, or other combustible material, between sunset of one day and daylight of the next succeeding morning, ‘shall, upon conviction thereof, be fined, for either of such offenses, in any sum not exceeding five dollars. - ‘ ~ SEC. xxlv.—lf any owner or eccupant of a livery, or other stable, within said.town, or any employe of the same, or other persons, shall use in such stable any, lighted candle, or other light, without having the same secured within a tin or glass lantern, or shall smoke within, or bring into such stable a lighted cigar or pipe, or fire-cracker, he shall, upon conviction thereof, be fined in any sum not exceeding ten dollars. o ‘ o L SEC. XXV.-——Any person who shall in any way unlawfully molest or disturb any religious, literary, scientific or educational society, association or assembly, or molest or disturb any members thereof, or other person present at such society, association, assembly or meeting, within said town, shall, upon conviction, be fined in any sum not exceeding ten dollars. - : SEC. xxvl.—Every person who shall be found within said town in a state of intoxication, and while so intoxicated shall be Dboisterous and noisy, so as todisturb other persons; or shall annoy and abuse any ‘person by his talk or conduet; or shall unnecessarily collect together by his talk or conduct a crowd of persons upon the street, sidewalk, or premises of any person, to the obstruction of the free use of the same; or shall be found lying upon any street, alley or sidewalk, or the premisegof any person, to the annoyance’ of any -citizen of thei{own, shall be deemed guilty of disorderly conduct, and, upon conviction, shall be fined in any sum not less than one nor more than ten dollars. oy SEC. xxVlL—Every person who shall within said town erect, or continue and maintain, any’ building, yard or enclosure for the sfaughtering of cattle, sheep or swine; and every person who shall’ within said town erect, or continue and maintain, any hog pen, pig sty, or privy; or any yard or enclosure containing manure, offal, or other waste matter, to the injury of any part of the citizens of said town, shall in any such case be deemed guilty of erecting, or continuing and maintaining, a public nuisance, and, upon convicb%ln, shall be fined in any sum not exceeding ten dollars. : i ' 5 , SEC. XXVIIL.—Any person who shall without competent authority place, deposit, or cause to be placed or deposited, upon any street, alley, lane or commons within said town, between the first day of ‘May and the first day of November of each year, or suffer or permit to remain on such street, alley, lane o6r commons, at or during any time within said period, from the first day of May to the first -day of November, any manure, carrion, offal, or other noxious or offensive matter, to the injury of any part of the citizens of said town, shall be deemed guilty of erecting; or continuing and maintaining, a public nuisance, and, upon convietion, shall be fined in any .sum not less than five nor more than ten dollars.- 5 Passed and approved, May 29th, 1874, | . . - ! Repealing certain Ordinances passed previous to May 29th, 1874, i N ~ WuereAs, By an order of the Board heretofore made it was ordered that the ordinances of the Town of Ligonier, Indiana, be revised; and WanEREAS, In conformity with said order all the general ordinances of said town passed previous to May 29th, 1874, excepting ordinances number Thirty‘nine (39),passed April 20th, 1872; number Forty (40), passed May 31st, 1872; and number Forty-four (44), passed September 29th, 1873, have been revised, and substituted by ordinances commencing with ordinance number One (1), dated and passed May 29th, 1874 ; and - WHEREAS, In order to prevent confusion it is iniportant to determine what ordinances are in force; Therefore, Be it ordained by the Board of Trustees of Ligonier, Indiana: : : L SECTION I—ORDINANCES REPEALED. That " all ordinances of a general nature passed previous to May 29th, 1874, be and the same are hereby repealed; excepting herefrom ordinances Thirty‘nine (39), Forty (40), and Forty-four (44), as specified in the preamble to this ordinance: Provided, That nothing herein contained shall be construed to prevent or prohibit the town from enforcing the right to collect any penalty, or claim for damages, license, or any other money demand, arising and accruing underany of the ordinances hereby repealed, and for which any person has become liable to said town previous to the taking effect of this ordinance. o Passed and approved, May 29th, 1874, to JOHN B. That it shall be unlawful for the owner of any dog to permit the same to run at large within the/limits of said town from the 15th day of June to the Ist day October of each year, unléss such dog be securely muzzled: : D - : o L) SECTION lI—PENALTY. : ' | Every dog found running at large within said town, during the months specified in the first section herein, and not securely muzzled, is hereby declared a nuisance; and the Marshal of said town, or any one by him authorized, is hereby directed and instructed to kill suechdog. - . o | Passed and approved, May 29th, 1874. Be it ordained by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Ligonier, Indiana: Thatthere shall annually, at the first regular session of said Board after the annual election of Trustees, be appointed by said Board two competent persons, citizens of said town, Fire Wardens, who shall hold their appointment for the term of one year. : ; : - SECTION lI—DUTIES OF THE WARDENS, : It shall be the duty of the Fire Wardens to visit and examine at all reasonable hours, dwelling Liouses, yards, lots, enclosures and buildings of all descriptions; discover if any of them are in a dangerous-con-dition; to regulate the n{]lanner of putting up stoves and stove pipe, the building of chimneys, the safe deposit of ashes, fire works, and prevent out fives; and if necessary to require the owner or occupant thereof, of any such premises, which the Fire Wardens may deem dangerous, to immediately repair the same to the satisfaction of such Wardens; and if such owner or occupant shall fail or refuse to place such premises in such condition as such Wardens shall direct; such Wardens shall immediately report the same to the Board in writing, and to the Marshal verbally, when said town shall immediately bring an action against such person or persons refusing or failing to comply with the orders of such Fire, Wardensg, and shall upon conviction be fined in any sum not exceeding ten dollars.; - = . To license, regulate and restrain Auction Establishments, Peddlers and Public Exhibitions. i -Be it ordained by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Ligonier, Indiana: SECTION I--LICENSE TO PEDDLE. That no street or traveling peddler, hawker or itinerant dealer in goods, wares,'or merchandise, shall s€ll or offer to sell by retail in said town, any such goods, wares, or merchandise, without a license therefor first obtained from the Town Treasurer; and such lidense shall be for one day, one week, one month or one year, and shall be issued by the Treasurer upon the payment by the applicant therefor to the Marshal of the sum of one'dollar for one day; five dollars for one week; fifteen dollars for one month, and fifty dollavs for one year. - T ‘ ¢ : ‘ SECTION lI—LICENSE TO AUCTIONEER. That no person shall sell or offer thsell any goods, wares, or merchandise, or other personal property, at public auetion, within said town, mitless such person shall first. procure alicense for such privilege from the Treasurer of said town for the period of one day, one weék, one month or one year, as he may desire, and the Treasurer of said town, upon the applicant for such license paying to the Marshal of the/town the amount of such license as herein specified, shall: issue to such applicant a license for the period required by him: and the amount of such license shall be the sum of four dollars for one day; twenty dollars for oné week; fifty dollars for one month, and two hundred dollars for one year. : ; :
' SECTION lII—LICENSE FOR SHOWS. 0 That no person or persons shall exhibitin said town any Circus, Menagerie, Side-Show, Roépe or Wire Walking, Theatrical Performances, Concerts, Minstrel Troupes, Ventriloquists, Slight of hand Performances, and Show of Puppets, for any payment, reward or charge, without the proprietor or manager 'thereof, or the person conducting such exhibition, first obtaining a license therefor, as hereinafter provided; and a license shall be issued to such applicant to exhibit any public exhibition enumerated above in said town, by the Town Treasurer, upon the payment to the Town Marshal by such applicant, for the several performances or exhibitions above pamed, the following sums: o ~ Circus-or Menagerie, per day....
