Setting Out Trees by the Rondside. ' The growth of imber to take the place of out rapidly dissppearing forests, has led farmers in some sectiens to set out trees. While it may not be eonvenient or desirable for all to adopt this plan, all ‘may set trees by the roadside along their own land. There are many advantagesto be obtained from them which can be scen at once to more than pay for the trouble They berutity the premises and give a better apponrance to the lnpdseape: and if the trees are maple, which is one of the best and most ensily raised, when grown, they will furnish a large yicld of maple sugar, * If butternut or walnut, the nuts are, inoa'measure, a eompeosation tor the labor of setting them ont: “There is to be in the future such a demund for wood that it will not wnawer to eat them down. and not replace them in some way. - In Baden and other German States, ns well as in some purts of Fratee, the liw ebliges a person to plant s tree in place of every one cut down. The tree grows wione rapidly as it gets «lder, und we ean not sfferd to cut them down until they get their growth, Sowie towns in thisseetion havenlready formed associations for Leaatifying their towns by planting parks and setting out trees by the roadside. If this is not done, individuals can, with but little trouble and without cxpense, procore trees snd set out in front of their own lands, and stimulate their neighbors to do the same, s as to mike a uniform and continuous line of shade trees along the roadeide. — New Hngland Homestead.
