It is true that many of them were not swift to commit thewselves to the support of Greeley; but when is was discovered. that Morean & Co. were to be the leaders ot the O'Conor moveweut, and when this Noble county’ patriot undertook through Grant men in this county to distribute Kdgerton tickets for the purpose of defeating Herdricks, they were spon convinced that the whole thing was a corrupt movement of the Grant party. 1 S Beingrepudiated by Democrats, he now undertakes to work through the Grant| Republicans of Goshen - I'nrough them be 18 now arranging to disseminate the O'Conor ticket in this county. CroMweLL, Inp,, October 28. - DEAR BANNER :~ We§ regret to say that Mr. Simon Pollock, near this place, during the last week, within twenty four hours, lost two fine cows with the “Mad Itch.” He says they scted as though the disease waslin_ the brain. They would rub their heads and fall' down, gét up again, etc. As he attempted to go near one of them, she took after him and he was compelled to climb the fence to make hiv escape. We bave heard of no other cases as yet in the neighborhood, and hope there will be no more. . NED. .

/THERE is a custom house in Pensacola, Florida. The receipts of customs at that port amounted in 1871 to $6:543. -To eollect this money nine officers were re‘quired whose salaries amounted to $12,430. This custom house, like very many others 1 the country, costs twice as much as it brings. Of the nine officers but jne is a native of tho State. The rest are all car pet baggers. Under Andrew Johnson's much abused administration, it required four officers to run the ' Pensacola custom house at a cost of $4,677.
