SIckNESS in their respective families prevented the editors of the Warsaw Indianian and the Colqmbiai City Commercial from devoting the usual attention to their papers last week. We deeply sym pathize with our contemporaries, as we know from sad experience, how difficult and perplexing is rendered editorial life under these unavoidable afflictions.

-~ Argus, Jr., On the Wing. ' AwrsioN, March 224, 1870. DEAR BANNER:—Since my last I have been “gwinging around the circle,” but the centripetal force being stronger than the centrifugal, have reached neither Ft. Wayne, as announced, nor Ligonier, as expectea, but am here at Albion. It may appear strange, and yet it is true, that a democratic newspaper correspondent bas been permitted to pass through every department of the court house unmolested, and ‘even to take a leisurely survey of the broken “safe,” which, we are intormed, is damaged to the amount of $lOOO. The men who are taking care of the court liouse are all looking well, and from appearances their appetites are good. After taking our leave of the Capitol we visited the harness and saddle store of P. A. Sunday, ‘which we found crowded with work of every description, which will now be sold at cost for 60 days.
~ We next visited our friend M. C. Skin‘ner, of the firm of Leonard & Skinner! found him with his old companion—the “meerschaum”—among his bottles. They keep a good drug store and are doing a good bdsiness. ' Skinner does nothing by balves—not even smoking. Lo A series of religious meetings have been in progress here for the last three weeks, Phey were commenced by Revs. Waltman and Smith and are continued by Rev. Smith. Good is doubtless being accomplished. g The stores, &c., are all doing a good husiness, but, what is a pity, here, as in our city, the saloons appear to have the best trade — judging from the number who pass in and out, Hs The livery stable of J. . Bliss is just now liberally patronized, and sleigh-bells are jingling merri'y on the streets, and the beart of many a belle is made glad hy the coming of a sleigh in which there is “room for one more.” Visited the Albion schools under the supcrintendence of H. Bortner. These schiools are in a very prosperous condition. After spending an hour with the princi pal and his “big girls” very pleasantly, visited the “little folks”—Miss Resnore, teacher. Here we found quite a number of ckildren who were former members of our juvenile singing class; talked to the children, and the teacher tvo, and, as the children remarked. “we had a good time.” Miss Reshore is a live teacher—one of our best, We»are sorry that circulnstanqés did not permit us to visit-the, rooms|of Mr. JobnSon and Miss Acus. :
Last Saturday an unknoxn man, insane; add filthy in appearsnce, was arrestéd ‘at the res.dence of Mrs/Eley, in Jefferson township, and confined in the poor house. The man is apparently of the race of-giants, as it required the combined strength of five men to arrest and confine him.

~EVERY mercoant who attémpts to do business without advertising does himself an, individual financial injury, for he vir tually ignores the enterprising, wide | awake spirit of the age, and says to the’ people, “I don’t want your patronage.”— The people have become so used to measuring a man's liberality and business en terprise by the length of his newspaper advertisement, that they. utterly repudiate the individual who has not enough business “get up” to hang out his sign in the pupers. . Forry clerks in the employ of the Jov ernment &t Washington, realizing the necessity of procuring new garments, had concluded to send an order to Cincinnati for the requisite quantity of Jeans, but at the suggestion of their fellow-clerk, Horace G.
