thTant customer of the right kmd-credit onSreTi 1- occasion to neeZtheir fd Ik idea of a man depending on borrowed money to carry on a mechanical business .s s.mply ruhcu- ' bus, and the man that does it isnot worthy to betrus o, I wouldn't lend such a man a dollar, if I had thousands lying idle. All the capitalists in our city T iud-e, look at this matter just as I do. I know that worthy men those that exhibit the ability to conduct their business properly can get just as much means as they should have, but that class are not, as a general thin", borrowers they conduct their business within themselves, and enlarge and advance as their means increase. I could name a number of instances where our capitalists have shown a willingness to advance any amount oi means to men of this character, and had intended when I commenced to mention them, but I will cet this article too long if I do. I am satisfied that even now, hard as the times are, I can name fifty mechanics and manufacturers, who manage their business in the way I mentioned above, that could get as much money as they wanted for their legitimate business; while the class that are continually railing at capitalists, and conducting their business in a lose, slipshod way trustin" Tom Dick and Harry without knowing whether They will ever get their pay, could not borrow a dime to save their paper from protest It would be well if the public would think well on all attempts to cry down the enterprising spirit of our citizens, before tliey credit the assertions of those that are not capable of forming a correct opinion.
