Lumber & Coal
Don't wait until you get your last bucket of coal before ordering more. Coal like sugar is mighty hard to get. You can do without coal; you could get along without flour by using corn or oats; you can get along without meat by lining nuts, milk. etc. but fuel is one
thing that stands between you and death you must have fuel. We have fortunately had warm weather for the past three week" and we took advantage of the lull in the coal demand to get every car we could from every source. As a result of our efforts W3 hae st.me'soft eoa! in stock at our yards which we arc selling strictly according to the fuel administrator's tll.'MlTS. The fuel administrator has given us much assistance in getting coal and we have complied with all their requirements in matters of price and distribution. All our coal is weighed by the men who load and deliver ii. They are ail instructed t: weigh it exactly right. If by any oversight or error on their part that this is not done we will appreciate the favor if you will invncdiately notify our office. We welcome investigation, criticism and suggestions that wiii hflp us to better serve our friends and neighbors. - . This is a time of nation

"do our bit." So shut off
all unused rooms; watch

Airs. B. F. Coombs Gave Talk lk-fore the High School Yesterday.
Mm. B. F. Coombs made a tin-inff appeal for aid for th local Red Cross briyirh to th hiirh school studeaitB in a talk before the school yesterday afternoon. She told of the urgent need for Red Cross supplies for the Hunting troops, especially surgical bandages. The J-irls ere urged to aid in the making of the bandages in the shop here, and the boys avere asked to help by making small rnonry donations. The quota of the local chapter in the now suttricab bandage assignment for the nation is 2.0X10 bandages. The Lebanon workshop needs helpers, cotton and gauze. Lebanon h)(ge has about one hundred members scattt red among two-thiids of the states of tf.e Union. . During the evening Charles T. Ftryun, one o the oldest members of the
lodge, made a most interesting speech of a reminiscent nature, relating some of the early history and incidents in the !ife of the lodge. Two oT tiie cbaiter members of the lo'U'e, Joseiih Small :.nd A'e: Moms, nere present at Thursday night's :r.e-tin. Appies were s!rved during the evening and a ve'-y pleasant social hour fulhmed the formal exercises of the "e'mTt. Oficers were elected as follows: Chancellor Commander, VV. F. a place built, like Bttlilehem, in many casea against the toft .
i limestone rock it often happens that the existence of s cave where i the house was to be wan ft great attraction eince it ollercd a ready i made, dry, above gwnd cellar as i well as a specially suitable spot for the household animals ml for a ! storeroom. It would seem that Joseph was at last able to got room in I some men back portion of a house, and there, we nre told, Mary bore l her divitia Son. A cave below the hiph altar of the Church of the Nativity is now : shown as the very place whore this i august event transpired; a little re- ; cess, shaped like a clnm shell, its ' floor of mnrble wrought into a star ! in the center, bearing in Latin the words, "Here Jesus Christ Was Born of the Virgin .Mary." A row of lamps hangs round the outer , edge, the right to attend to them being a jealously wateh-d matter, ettch .of the ancient churches, the (Ireek, the Latin, the Armenian and the ; Cootie, having one or more of these uttiVr its care. i The evidence for this site is so strong that most persons accept it a3 sufficient, reaching up, as it docs, to within living memory of the days of ' the apostles. But even if this be an ! illusion the fact remains that in this petty village the Saviour of the i world was made man for our redemption. N'o wonder that we read ! of the anthem of the angels, for ! surely nothing could draw forth the . interest of the heavenly population j like the en-ceding grace God was j showing to sinful man. j The scene of the visit of the shepi herds is pointed out as on a rough slope, faeins the village, at soma i distant to the cast, Bethlehem ly- ; ihg far above on its mountain sent i One can follow the shepherds in j their journey to see the unimeakable i wonder. They would go along the rich vallov of Iioaz and then up the i terraced full by -a path still in use, nor is it uninstructive to reflect that, while simple shepherds were ; led by angels to the manger, the ' high priest and the great of Jerusalem, so near, slept through that ; moat illustrious night of all history, quite unconscious of what had happened. But we know of it, and may i God grant that if we cannot go with the shepherds to Be'hlehem we may ' one day go to the right hand of God ; and worship hitu there, who that j night lay a little child in Man's arms. Dr. Cunningham Geikie. "
