(By ( umf(oii.il .Vfiti Kerrlee.) NEW YORK, October 25. Conditions of danger involving young girls in the vicinity of the (treat training camp have aroused a number of public spirited women with the result that plan are being made today to have women police work near the troop concentration points. Police Commissioner Wood in his annual budget, submitted to the Board of Estimate, asked for a special appropriation to defray the expenses of employing such women police, but it was struck out. Organizations of women, however, appealed Jo the .Mayor und the Board of Kstimnte and hearings on the petitions have been granted. Raymond B. Kosdick, chairman of the Commission on Training Camp Activities, is said to lie in favor of the plan. Mr. losthck is credited with saving: "We have felt so keenly the necessity for women protective officers in the neighlxirhood of training camps that we have appointed a committee under the commission, with Miss Maude Miner, of New York, a- chairman, whose sole business is to stimulate the appointment of women officers in the neighborhood of military training camps. iThis plan was frankiy adopted frrm the F.nglish system, where the necissity lor these odieers became apparent immediately after the opening of the war.
