A new movement i- on in Marion county, art one that will be given careful thought by all the people who study public affairs in Indiana. The plan ii to do away with the towr.siiip organization of all the townships excent one and in'orrtornte them all in one: township, or just merely havcii? county organization. The reason hehind this is that the building of all roads should be a county affair. Vnder the present plan, the building cf roads falls upon a town. .hip and a heavy expense to the individual township, and it is a haphazard method. Then, the schools of tiie county, :n these days of consolidated "SRchOol-, and the towns and cities huv.ng ti. own school boards, could possibly he looked after by the county superin tendent, ahr urh expense would be caved to the taxpayers. This movMrent in M-irion cour.)will come slowly, if at all, and in the meantime it is worthy of stjoy in other eountics. GOOD ADVICE BI T The people arc advised to eat li-h and thus rcdu-e their meat expense. ThiH in good advice, if practicable, but where arc the lish and Low ran they be obtained at a reusonaoi 1 price ? Fi'h is a favorite food, but wh;le it is said Cierc is a:i ovcr-upply of riOi, by the time it reaches the .on(umers the price i al::'ost proiiibitivc. It it not true that the hh that is not caught this year will never be caught ? The fi.-h in the streaiis aliould b" caught by the likh wardens or sompublic oiHi-cr and sold to the people at cost. Will b Claeraed by i:.-.. 1 ..rmcra From October 15 I SO. Preparationj on a large scale are made for tlie (election of teed corn during Seed Corn Week, October 1520. The Indiana committee of food production and conservation haa called upon all active forces of the state to

join in selecting from the fields 1,000,-' 000 tnwheU of seed corn to be used In planting the 1918 crop. County agents, superintendents of schools, grain dealers, millers, corn growers, bankers and others are ofrming coun - organizations and enlisting every ty. wm, the co-oper : afent. and emergency d J r' i P!f ' tn; ".' "' -,u"e. -IMXiui m ramie uii l" provided and in other ways the peopie aic i:imk ii-i tu wic unin.ance of the work. It is very evident the acreage of corn for 1918 in any material way. Indiana farmers are growing approximately 6,000,000 acres at this time and this acreage is about as ; . "Jj as can be expected under the rotation of crops. It is possible to increase the production in a very mater al way. The average yield of corn in the state is atxiut 40 bush1 els per acre, (lood lands are producing 60 to 80 bushels per acre. ! The use of earlv selected .eed' ' which has been properly storei' and which has the highest vitalit t has ' given an increase of 5 to 10 ' ushels per acre over crops grown fro-n seed selected from the crib, which I as had little attention. Farmers cannot afford, especially this season, when the 1 crop is late and full of moistu.e to allow the seed com to freeze while still full of moisture.
