Impressive and Interesting Services Held Yesterday in Honor of Old People. Sunday was the annua Old Folks' .-mire at the First Baptist church, an oecafion which is looked forward to i:h pleasure by the elderly people .f the congregation. The day is not "ily set aniut for the elderly people m' the Hnptist church but elderly fHendp from other denominations ate always welcome guests. Conveyances ere provided for those who cared to ride, anil every attention possible -howered upon those older gj.-own. I r e church wan appropriately adorne I v. ith golden rotl, asters, cosmos and "ther late flowers; with ripened corn, pumpkins, etc.. combined with the national colors of red, white aivl blue. Batterton as he was the oldest man present, he also being one of the very faithful soldiers of the Cross and a silk flag was also presented to !Mi:ss Priscilla Kersey, she being eigh- ! ty-seven years of age on her last birthday. Mr. Batterton is eighty-live years ; c and remarkalilv well nreserved r'.'zT 1?LVZ7 carnations and roses, which were trie rift of Paul O. Tauer, florist. Mrs. Kd P. Stephenson was general chairman for the annual service. Both services were profitable and red letter occasions for the church. Large audiences were present at both meetings. Afternoon "Love Feast." The afternoon service was conducted by Rev. W. P. McKinsey of the Methodist church. Feihaps no one is better qu. lifted to conduct such a meeting than Rev. Mr. McKinsey, and under his guidance the love-feast proved to be a blessing to not only the older people hut the younger ones as well. Many heart testimonials were sung with much feeling, Robert Coleman, music supervisor in the city schools leading the song festival. Miss Mary Stevens delighted all with a fifteen minute ergsn recital. - Rev. Mi. Reynold and others offered prayer.
