I INPIANAI'OLIS, Ind., October 4. ! lieeeipts of 4,0I0 hog this morning, j while aUut in line with other days this week, were slightly smaller. The market opened with a good outside demand for prime heavy butcher hogs and brought that class weighing up to 2.'0 pounds at 1!.6". Other hogs sold from 1K.M). The general advance of the market was around 1 2(c over yesterday. There was a fair clearance. j CATTLE Around 1,500 fresh cat- ; tie arrived for the market and the i supply proved to be fully eiiual to all demands. The market opened with some dif- ' ference of opinion as to the condition of prices, but it was finally agreed that while there might have been some advantage in favor of buyers, the general market so far as steers, heifers, cows and bulls were concerned was steady with yesterday. There was no competition for some choice prime hearvy steers. Calves also gold steady. ! There was not much demand for tstockers and feeding cattle from the , rural district.-, but other local buyers , took the offerings at the recent level in prices. j CHICAGO GRAIN.
1 CHICAGO, October 4. Favorable j weather over the corn belt arul a foi-e- j cast I'ol fail ki...liu iui ii.i li.M two j days, caused an easier market in corn 1
at the opening here today. Prices were o(T about half cent from yestorilav's finish, but brisk buying by Armour grain company caused a recov- . cry of the early decline. ! Oats also declined slightly at the opening. Trade in oats was light ami ; tne market featureless, lard was un- ; der some pressure at the opening and ull provisions averaged somewhat
lower. Selling was confined mainly to local traders. i I CHICAGO LIVESTOCK. j I UNION' STOCK YARDS. III.. Oc-1
