Red Cross Work Gains Impetus Lecture Arouses Enthusiasm.

The five ladies of the local Red ("rows workshop who attended the lecture jnven m Indianapolr- yesterday by Mix IW-bniml Tiffany of New York icturncd very enthusiastic over the meeting, and stated that Mrs. Tiffany brought home to them the practical tide of the Ci-d Cross work more than they had ever realized it before. Mrs. Tiffany stated that while the work beinK done in Indiana was splendid and that people are responding readily to the call for aid, yet if this work were to be niulrinlirv! by one hundred it would -till be but a drop in the bucket to what must be accomplished. Mrs. Tiffany was secured to make another tuliem Indianapolis next Thursday, and those from here who heard her yesterday urire all ludies interested in the woik to try, if possible, to arrange to hear her. Five Auxiliaries. There arc five Red Cross auxiliaries in lloone county now working under the direction of the headquarters of the chapter here. These are located in Suirar Creek, Kajrle, Worth, I'erry, and Jefferson townships. A meeting is to be held in Jamestown this afternoon for the purpose of organizing. The funeral service of Mrs. Charles Perkins whose death occurred Tuesday at Oregon will be held Sunday afternoon ut 2 ocleck at the Hopewell church north of I,ebanon. The body will arrive this evening at .r:tfri o'clock at the home of Mrs. Charles Hawkins of Kempton. The funeral service will be conducted by Rev. A. I.. Ward of this city.

Whitestown Man Registers a Complaint With Indianapolis Police.

The Indianapolis Star says: "V. E. Ward of Whitestown, Ind., rooming at North Senate avenue and employed at Fort Benjamin Harrison as a laborer, has to get up early in the

morning. He needed a clock, and t ld Pcskman Long at police headquarters he noticed one in a jewelry store window advertised at .tb. This kid the kind he needed and lie went in, purchased it and gave a ten dollar bill. When he got home he discovered the clerk had given him only $3.50 in change. Ward returned with the clock, and the clerk sold him a watch, taking back the clock and $8..r0. Ward complained that the watch was not as good as the clock. He was referred to the Chamber of Commerce for help."
