Patriotism, at least is not measured by size or ago, not even by the pigment of the skin. This is everybody's war and everybody wants to fight or do something worth while. NOT A TIME TO CET RICH The "President, in an appeal to the whole country, makes some telling point as to patriotism. It is not right, when the boys are being chwien by selective conscription, that some enterprises .shall be permitted to make excessive profits out of war conditions. This is a time when everybody should show some .ymfitoms of patriotism, ... The man who takes advantage of his nation being at war to double or triple the price of what he has to sell, is worse than a slacker, he is a selfish and unfeeling traitor to the best interests of hie country. Then, the results of industry are going to the wrong people. There is no disposition to say that the man who till the ground and raises tho pro(ucta of the soil, working and watching through the months shall not have reasonable return for his work. But. he is not getting any excessive profit The profit is gong to the nsnipulutor and speculator. The coal operators even after the xilroads have furnished them all the cars they can use, still maintain the high prices. Their coal mines should H taken nway from them, Jut as the property of other traitors should he confiscated. This is no time to get rich. This is a time to give. This is a time when every patriot is giving. The parents give their sons, and their money they give all they have; oihgive their work, their money, all hey have. Mrs, Jam Plankett, Near Advance, Injured by a Fall. Mrs. Jane Plunkett, residing west of Advance, suffered a broken right arm today about noon when she fell from a chair on which she was standing. James Cox, of Ohio, was today the guest of Governor Goodrich and the Ohio men in the Officers' Reserve Camp. The governor and his party arrived f.iis morning and faced a busy day. Gov. Two representatives of the National Council of Defense tod:iy addretwed the meeting of the State Council of Defense with the chairmen of the county councils at the state house. George r.
