At all the social meetings of the various clubs which are holding meetings during the summer months the programs have been dispensed with and the hours are heing spent in Red Cross work. Yesterday the city authorities stop ped the operation of all chewing gum slot machines in the city which give "something for nothing." Several eof the drug stores, groceries, and res taurants had slot machines which give an extra package of gum every so often and the complaint was that the youths of lbanon were spending their pennies to profusely to take advantage, of the extra sticks.
