WELSH SAYS THAT HE ; IS STILL His Manager Agrees Claim Based on Rule 5 of the Boxing Rules. - Bg the fsrenwHosfll Ari Strvlrt.) NEW YORK, May 30 FVddie Welsh says he is still champion lighteight of the world and that Benny Leonard is not. His manager, Harry Pollok, says the same thing and they base their argument on the fact that Rule 6 of the Marquis of Queensberry rules states: "A man hanging on the ropes in a helpless state with his toes orT the ground shall be considered down." It is the contention of both Pollok and Welsh that if being on the ropes in a helpless condition is considered "down" then McFarland, the referee, should have counted ten before stopping the fight which action actually made Leonard champion of the world." There ia no question but that Welsh was done for. The utter helplessness of hia condition waa made apparentl. when he attempted to leave the shelter of the ropes in Leonard's own comer after McFarland had stopped the bout, He reeled about as though he had been suddenly stricken with paralysis. He brought up on his hands and face finally over the lower rope. TWENTY-EIGHT CARS. Are Entered in the Speedway Rare at Cincinnati. (By ffte afernaMosal AVir Rervict.) CINCINNATI, May 30.
