So far ai this ectioa of Indiana ia conrerned there miKht just aa well be no fish in the streams, for they are never caught by anybody who wi.hci them for food. The sportsmen do not wish the fish for food, but merely wish the pleasure Ci tawJiiug UtciU. If a stream belongs to an iadividual, he should have the privilege of sayinf; nho should fish in it; if a large ttream, it should be so arranged that the fish that come up into these streams with each year from the rivers should be taken and used for food for the people who need them. It may well be said that the fish that are in the streams this year rmit be taupht or else they are lost to the people. Right now when the price of meat i -e no hih that the average family ran hardly have all the meat needed, there arc enough fish in the streams i.;id in the lakes to supply everybody with fish for the whole year; yet they re not caught in sufficient supply to even reduce tho high coct of living. Thrn in the seas, thjre are fish enough for ail the world to eat fish (very day in the jear, but no special ' tToi-t is made to provide them for the , op'e at reasonable prices. Why not 'iave an organized effort to get the i'ifdi fiora the .-icam, the rivers, the lul;es, ami even the ocean, to the pb'es of the people who would en;vy them ? Kven the carp and suckers might ie eaten just now, when prices ai-e o high, but uhy not give the people chance also to have a bass now and then? They are in the streams, and might be used to advantage just now, not merely for the pleasure of the sportsmen, bt-.t for the filling of the tomachs of the people who may not have enough to eat. otherwise.

Mrs. Katharine N. Snyd Pirector of Dramatic Arts in Lebanon College. The Lebanon college announces the opening of the new department for the teaching of the dramatic and the speech arts. Mrs. Katherine Nome Snyder of lndianapolia has been obtained aa director and teacher of department. She ia toe oonu.'r and director of the C: hu School of Expression s. Lulianapolia, and has had w ide experience aa a dramatic director, actress and public speaker. She ia owner of and director of the Catha MRS KATHERINE N. SNYPER. Woodland Players who have made ex tended tours through the Northwest and Eastern chautauqua fields in the production of Shakespearean comedies. Mrs. Snyder is a graduate of the dramatic department of the Metropolitan School of Music at Indianapolis, and a po.-t-graduate from t he Hin.-haw Conservatory at Chicago. She h.vi been particularly successf-,i' with children, and contends that this is due to the fact that she herself is the mother of four beys and girls. "One of the interesting facts, in the r-eld of the dramatic and spe-ch arts," said Mn. Sn;,der rcent'y, "is the ne'.v understanding that haa developed in the last few years of the value of these arts in the businesi world. Preachers, lawyer and business men in the selling and prpmotien fields of wovk are among my regular patrons. These men know that bu.-ip.ess success depends upon rcrsnrnl charm and ability to speak and talk forcefully. There is net, in tite commercial world much sueeeys w ailing for anyone who cannot explain v hat he has or cat do so that the customer will understand. The lawyer vho convince a jury, the preacher who convert the wayward, the poli tician who wins votes, the girl who -oils vou ribbons, must all speak and talk in a way to make the Juror, the sinner, the voter, or the customer think as they think. Spesliing ability i.i worth seeking, aside from its purely cuiturid vaiue." A SMALL BLAZE AT THE CLUJE HOTEL Guests Roused From Their Slum hers Hy Fire in An Unoccupied Room.
