UDYIHAFFA1R Continues to Go Along in a Mildly Interesting Way.
EFFECT OF WOMEN'S VOTING PUZZLING
Candidates Bewildered by New Conditions That Have
Arisen.
With the wiodup only a week away, the city primary campaign continues to (0 along in a most sober, orderly and mildly interesting way. It ha provoked no controversy. While it has not been languid, it certainly has bran moat lady-like. One doea not have to look very hard to discover both eagerness and bewilderment in the eyes of the candidate The eagerness is due to their anxiety to win in the nominating ontest; the bewilderment ia attributable to an utter inability satisf acton ly to figure out what the effect of women's voting next fall is going to be. The truth in. there is scarcely a man running who ia wholly at ease in his mind aa to what slant the women will take at him. A man never ia serenely satisfied with himself in a case where the opinion of women regarding him is involved. And every man who gets a nomination in the primary is going te fisd eut net full what the women think af him. Their votes will be east and counted separately. When the election ia over, each candidate will kaow to a certainty whether he is an up-and-comer or a down-ahd-outcr so tar aa the ladies arc concerned. Separate Boxes. 'The women will have in each precinct a ballot box for their particular use Tnere are two reasons for this. The first reason is that in some elections women will not have the r.ght to vote for all the officers to be chosen. Tir "few) rsn that it is desired to know what per cent of the vote is cast by women. Men ana women will, of course, use the same polling place in each precinct and will be I served by the same, election board. In the eity election the women will vote for all officers to be chosen. No constitutional inhibition exists as to city officers.
