a crowd out In front of ri the Avenu in the early

morning Just before the store opened. Now Tiffany's does not have hartaln sales. Crowds do frequently gather In front of a red fronted store further up the street for "Wednesday morning bargains, but not here. Nor do folks set out to roh Tiffany's. JJy bus stopped in front and I was curious to know the reason. A mouse had been causht between the brass stand pipe and the store front What, could this creature have hoped to steal within that great establishment? It had merely escaped from a nearby cellar, where Its nest had been dslturbed, by the cruel drill plowing in the rocks for the planting of a new building. 'Give it a chance," the crowd clamored. So the city mouse strayed across th rracetrent, the crowd making way. Out Into the traffic it scampered, not heeding the "Don't Get Hurt" signs, and met a truly metropolitan fate. The sporting behavior of the crow,j was Interesting. The pest of many a household was accredited Its rights on the street.

Ernst Aimless has been making speeches In the state campaign. lie was assigned to the county committee, which is responsible for the many out-door meeting chiefly taken over by the candidates for the State Assembly, it was pretty cob!

the other nlfrht and crowds were harj to get. lie conceived the idea '.f putting ona speaker up In the machine and putting the other occupant out In front as listeners, lie suggested that the speaker pretend to be arguing with one of them. He took the part of the questioner in tho street. It worked. The crowd gathered. Ernest allowed the speaker to abuse him. and then the speaker went on with his message to the voters. This stunt was repeated with success on several corners, and each time Ernest had to drift away from the crowd defeated and forlorn. On the next post he insisted chat he should be the speaker from the car. His confederate in the made a criticism of some kind and Ernest answerod. But so vindictive, abusive, and vituperative did Ernest become, that out of sheer sympathy with the "Innocent bystander" the crowd turned on Ernest, and he was obliged to drive away leaving the real owner of the car advocating a policy with -which he was not in entire sympathy. From MR. HOBART M. CABLE It is very gratifying to me, the manner in which the people of Hammond have responded to our Co-operative Club movement. . I consider the organization of this Club one of the most important business events of my life. Through the organization of this Club I will have saved to the people of Hammond, my neighbors, almost $30,000.00, or, to be eact, $29,220.00; the individual saving to each Club Member amounting to $146.10. This is a positive economy that each Club Member will actually realize. These instruments offered to Club Members are regular stock models, not something prepared especially for this Club, and represent the majrimum limit in value, even at this regular price $465.00, and the player-pianos offered to Club Members are being sold to them at exactly $185.00 less than the price at which our Dealers all over the United States are selling them. Desiring to stimulate and help in the Music-in-the-Home movement which is being carried out all over the country, and as our Factory is near to Hammond, it has fallen our lot to organize this Club, as ft is a ma tter that can be handled only by a Manufacturer, on account of the magnitude of the proposition. Notwithstanding our duty in this regard, I take pleasure in making it possible for these 200 Club Members to secure these Club Pianos and Players at this great saving, and on these very easy Club terms, and vvith the conditions and privileges t that go, with each Club membership. When one considers that there is NO INTEREST CHARGE to Club Members, that each Member will save IN INTEREST ALONE. $48.10. that each Club Member can earn in Cash Rebates $18.00, that the special price reduction to Club Members will amount to $80.00, that these three items alone represent the actual saving of $146.10 to each Member these items alone are enough to induce any one to investigate the Club, saying nothing of the Life Insurance feature which provides for the cancellation of all future payments in case of the death of the signer of the Contract. I cheerfully recommend this Club pla n to my friends and neighbors of Hammond. Yours very truly,
