John A. Topping, president of Republic would not go Into details regarding what is in contemplation. Bankers for the company were equally reticent. It was not denied however, that the financing of Republic is being discussed and that original comprehensive plans of new construction which were about ready for execution whea the merger negotiations intervened now will be carried through. Tho financing is expected to be for about S1O.00O.O00 bonds. It is the opinion of informed persons, however, that no offering of the issue will be made for some weeks, as Republic's exact status with regard to merger possibilities has not been completely settled. It is believed Republic could soil $10.000.000 first mortgage bonds an about a 6 per cent, basis. It was explained today that so far as the tanking Interests are concerned, there is no disappointment over the inclusion of the Midvale concern in the Bethlehem combination, and no resentment is felt because the other companies originally considered.
