concord livtuTi There urill be a patrol leaders school held every "Wednesday evening at 108 Citizens National Bank Bldg., for the patrol leaders from every troop. Different experts will g-ive Instructions at each meeting:. The next cut leaders school will ie held Tuesday evening November 7th. Plans for the winter Intertroop contest will be adopted at this meeting. The Drum and Bugle corps is meeting in the court house every Monday evening at 7:30 p. m. This is a splendid opportunity for scouts to receive free Instruction in bugling and drumming. All Boy Scouts who are not working are expected to take part in the Armistice Day parade, on Saturday morning, November 11th. The Drum and Bugle Corps will head the scout delegation. The next Court of Honor will be held during the week of November 27tli. Applications for second and first class and merit badges must be turned into headquarters by November 18th. Later ones will not be accepted by this court. CAST? WTCKSX Camp Wicker has been kept busy this fall. Troops 6, 3 ar.d 17 were the last week-end visitors. The nice fall weather has been ideal for the scouts at this beautiful camping spot. Troop 17 had seven boys and two visitors and passed a good many wond and first class tests on their hike BX&S STUDY Since Hammond has seven Eagle scouts a great many first class scouts are hitching their wagons to the Star and planning to someday reach that rank. Bird study Is one of the hardest merit badge tests to pass and many of the new first class

are starting on it already. Frank

Brown and some of the boys from

uroop 13 saw a flock of strange birds the other day, they got close to the birds and observed their markings and peculiar cross bill

which they had. They went to the

scout headquarters and after look

ing through the bird identification

books, they found that they had seen a flock of American Cross Bills

This is the first time that any Hammond scouts have identified this

bird in this community. THB BJ2AX. TEST

The final and chief test of a Scout

is the doing cf a Good tturn ;;l 1 somebody every day, quietly, an without boasting. The Good Turn may not be a ery big thing, helping an old 'lady across the street, removing a banana peel from the pavement so that people may not fall, removing from streets or road, broken glass dangerous to automobile or bicycle tires, giving water to a thirsty horse, or deeds similar to tlitse. This i3 the proof of a Scout. It is practical religion and a boy honors God best when he helps others most. A boy may wear all the Pcout uniforms made,, all the Scout barges ever manufactured, know all the woodcraft, campcraft, and other activities of Boy Scouts and yet never be a read Scout. To be a real Boy Scout, means the doing of a Good Turn every day with the proper motive, and if this is done the hoy has a right' to be classed with the great Scouts that have bern of such service to the country. from Flint "Scout Dispatch."

Wall street messenger boys wear setl boxes chained to them.
