FORD'S NEW CAB Henry Ford Is placing on the market this week 8,000 new cars (one to each dealer in the U. S.) that is known as the four-door type sedan. It Is a 5-passenger car with all the features of tha latest closed cars. The body of this machine is approximately three inches longer than the two-door type sedan, the extra length providing additional leg room for the occupants of the rear seat. Upholstery material is of Improved design with a fine dark tripe on a brown background of a shade that will not easily show dust and dirt. Silk window curtains to harmonize ars provided for the three rear windows. This sedan, which Is quoted at $725. F. O. B., Detroit, will bo on display at the E. N. Bunnell sales rooms as well as other Lake county dealers next week.
Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock requiem high mass was celebrated for the late Mrs. Matilda Ferguson, wife of Harry Ferguson, of 4411 Xorthcote avenue, by the Rev. GuestofT of Crown Point, the same priest whom married them a few years ago. Tha pall bearers wera from the P. H. C. of which order Mrs. Ferguson was vice president. They also conducted a most Impressive service at the open grave of their sister in St. Joseph's cemetery, where Interment took place In charge of Undertaker W. C. Huber. Mrs. Charles Haller of Wauconda, 111., Is visiting her mother Mrs. Elizabeth Thomas of Northcote avenue. Mrs. Thomas has been quite 111 this week with a severe cold. Thursday afternoon at her home in the Herod apartments. Mrs. Walter Frank, most charmingly entertained at six tables of bridge. The prizes were beautiful hand made handkerchiefs and as they did not progress, but pivote. high score at
each table was awarded a prize, these going to Mrs. Milton Given. Mrs. Richard Bates. Mrs. Harry Spencer, Mrs. Burdette Williams, Mrs. Henry Schwartz and Mrs. Neil Blatt, Out-of-town guests were Mrs. XV. J. Funkey of Gary. Mrs. Roy McFarland of Hammond, Mrs. Henry Schwarti ot Cleveland, and Miss Dorothy Barber of Detroit. The decoration were suggestive of the hallowe'en season and were also carried out in the delicious refreshments served. Tuesday evening, Oct. 28th, the pupils of Garfield school, of which Miss Carrie Gosh is principal, gave tho operetta, "Twilight Alley." In a most creditable manner In the auditorium of the school, under the direction of the musical Instructor. Miss Emily Nordin. Miss Agnes Jones of Baring avenue entertained her club Thursday evening at a masquerade hallowe'en party. A most delightful evening was enjoyed. One of the outstanding features was the Initiation of a young woman Into the club. The decorations were carried In trus hallowe'en style and the danty refreshments served completed the evening's entertainment. The East Chicago Pythian Sisters are entertaining at a masked hallowe'en party this evening in the K. P. hall on Olcott avenue. A cordial Invitation Is extended to all Pythian Sisters to attend. Mr. and Mrs. William Mansfield of gunnyside, will attend the Chicago-Princeton game this afternoon. They will be accompanied by the latter'a sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard C. Smythe of New York City, who have come purposely to attend the game. This evening Mrs. E. N. Canine, grand Ruth, will be a guest of Valparaiso Eastern Star, at the official visit of the grand matron. Mrs. Effie Harrison, who will bs a guest at
the Canine home on North Magoun avenue, over Sunday and un til Monday afternoon when she will go to Hammond to attend the Star meetings in that city Monday afternoon and evening. A delicious dinner was served at o'clock by the members of the Miller church. as The Trl Kappaa will meet Monday evening instead of Tuesday, their regular night, with Mrs. Floyd Murray, H Waltham street, Hammond. The East Chicago delegates who attended the Indiana State Federation of Clubs convention this week in Indianapolis, returned yesterday morning. They report a most splendid convention. Miss Marjory Cresswell, of North Forsythe avenue, was much surprised last evening, when she was presented with a check from Mar Schrage of Whiting, a prle, for having won In the fifty yard swimming contest, last Fourt of July at Whiting park. Monday night, Mrs. E. N. Canine -will leave for Cleveland, O.. to attend the annual meeting of the W. B. M. I. of the Interior, of which Mrs. Canine is state president. There will be delegates from twenty-two states who will take part In this conference.
