UNHONORED AND UNSUNG The United States gets small credit foi what it does in the interests of peace and the general welfare of humanity. Congressman Burton attended several sessions of the league of nations during his recent visit abroad. He reports that there was discussion of the British famine relief, but there was no mention of the $20,000,000 given by the United States, and only the Japanese delegate spoke of the disarmament efforts of the Washington conference on limitation of armaments. Apparently the. foreign conception of the United States is a nation of profiteers, relentlessly pursuing its creditors for every dollar of their debts. Regardless of what America has done or may do
THE NEXT CONGRESS No keen political observer believes that the Democrats will obtain control of the house
of representatives next month, yet if they were to overturn the Republican majority there would be an end of constructive legislation for two years. The Republican majority probably will be reduced. The 1920 vote was not a normal alignment of Americans politically. It is vain to predict the size of the Republican majority in the next house, but Democratic sources inform all who will listen that ii will be from 40 to 80. The concession is made by the party of Wilson with hope that it will fcjuiet Republican efforts to get out a full vote and that Democrats may slide into congressional seats. As a part of the subtle scheme it is announced for the Democrats that they do not

SILVER LINING ("I expect to f.ght some one next summer." Jack Dempsey.) When life seems sad and dreary, when the boss has cut your pay When friends neglect to pay the loans you lent 'em. When you've saved your extra dollars up against a rainy day, And then in temporary aberration spent 'em, f When you have a vicious toothache and your tummy's on the fntz, And you feel as bum as sin and even bummer. There is still a silver lining to the somber cloud, and it's That YOU won't be fighting Dempsey this next summer. When the butcher and the grocer and the landlord bring their bills. And you're visited by your inlaw relations. Just remember some one's coming, Mister Fulton, Greb or Wills, According to all present indications. Who'll be sitting on his ear and hearing little birdies sing While express trains through his beezer roar and rattle. ?otne one must be a sacrifice, but the important thing Is YOU won't be the guy to fight that battle.

A music festival called Eistoddfod is held rnnually, in which all Wales takes interest. Xe Welshman hopes to be ablo to participate in this festival some day. Educated at the University of Wales, at Aberystwyth, Jones came to America cbout fifteen years ago. He studied music with David Jenkins, Eben Frout and Taul Le Vallon. Jones maintains that Wales would long ago have been crushed beneath oppression and tyranny If its people had not been able to inspire one another with song. Music is the handmaid of religion.
according to Jones. He holds that the high morals of the Welsh aro attributable to a large extent to their intense fondness for music. "The fires of optimism and patriotism have been kept burning in the hearts of the Welsh people by their mass singing, which Is almost a dally custom In all sections of Wales," Jone3 explained. Music in the home and plenty of singing will further a wholesome future for .America, in the opinion of Jones.
