Boy Scout Column

YOU NIVIE CA2T TELL You never can tell how far some little action will carry Itself In results. Nine years ago a little freckled face chap walked up to his boss in a newspaper office and showed him a Boy Scout handbook. Because of this boy's evident enthusiasm over this Iioy Scout book this man eventually entered Boy Scout waiU. He is Mr. Dale, the Scout Executive at Minneapolis, and one of the most aWe leaders passed on to literary thousands of boys. Some months a.go there was printed in The Times, a story of the Hoy Scouts, of the Wallace school, assisting- Dr. Ostrowskl with a boy wh(, had broken his arm. This story was re-printed in a New York paper, and again re-printed in a newspaper in a larfre southern city. Scouts ought always remember that they are to render some service to someone else every day and very often in the days to come this service will be multiplied many fold as it pastes alonir. COTTRT OP HONOR The i'ourt of Honor will be held In the hisrh school auditorium next Tuesday evening:. Scouts and everyone else who is interested should be present at this meeting-. There will be yells, sonprs and a few short, snappy speecb.es, as well as the presentation of awards. At this Court two more Scouts will be added to Hammond's list of Eagle Scouts, making a total of seven. Orle.m Lellell and John Rohrer, of Troop Nine, have completed their tests for this rank. Any awards for merit bagde rank which have not been checked with. Mr. Scott should be done at once. ITW SCOUT MASTERS Tn getting started on fall work

several troops have found It necessary to secure nevr Scout Masters, because of our former ones leaving the city or being unable to handle the troop on account of working hours. Ralph Thorsen has taken the place of H. M. McLean, of Troop No. Two. W. E. Long, of Long's Department Store has taken charge of Troop Three. Rev. "VVhear, the new pastor of the M. E. church Is actively Interested In the re-organization of Troop Fourteen. Louis Finn has charge of Troop Seventeen, assisted by Mr. Collett, the former Scout Master, as chairman of the Troop Committee. Mr. Hayworth, the principal of the llessville school. Is In active charge of Troop Nineteen, of that district. Xew Scout Masters are needed for Troop Seven of Riverside school. Troop Ten, of St. Joseph's church, and Troop Twenty, of Columbia school. Few reople realize the good that Is being done through the willingness of the men who are acting as Scout Leaders of the boys of the community. Do you know of a man who would be qualified to be such a leader? ' TBOOP 1S.EPOE.TXE.S News Items of the troops will be put In this column when the troop turns in such reports. CAW? BXTZ Mr. Scott visited Camp Eetz last Sunday. He reports everything in good condition, but rather lonesome without the "bunch." He brought back some walnuts, hickory nuts, butter nuts and ripe paw paws. The big flag pole still stands sentry duty over the parade grounds, the aerial listens for messages unreeeived. the wood box is empty, waiting for the wood detail to work, the dishes miss their daily batts, the swimming hole presents an unruffled surface, and the fish come up, looking hungrily for their daily rations from Martin and Ryan, and the squirrels well there are plenty of nuts for them. No, "them days sre gone, but not forever.'
