These prevent any deportation of the Negro as well as any restriction ot his freedom within the United States." Fairness is the keynote of tb volume. It is a distinct contribution to the literatur that has grown up about one of the grayest and most perplexing of national problems and unquestionably will be widely discussed.

THE MODERN ELECTRICAL HOME To be able to say and prove that a home is absolutely modern and up-to-date is saying a" good deal. But the Northern Indiana Gas & Electric Co., the Hammond Electrical Dealers Association, Roscoe E. Woods and Charles S. Rhoads are standing sponsor for a home so complete in every detail that for two weeks this , beautiful home will be placed on exhibition for thousands of home hungry eyes to see. After the exhibition it will be sold through the exclusive agency of Woods, Martin & Company. The house is of Colonial architecture and is located on Forest avenue. There is a large living room across the entire front of the building. 'The dining room, seperated from the living room by a comodious Colonial hall, is of generous size. There is a large kitchen and a covered service porch. The whole impression of the down stairs is that of roominess. Two case openings from the living room to the sun parlor add to the cheeriness. Between these is the fire place. An $800.00 Colonial stairway leads to the second floor where the master's bedroom with an exposure to the south and west assures cooling breezes oa hot summer nights. Today every house must have one large bed room. This one extends across the entire front of the house and has eight windows in it. It also has a gas fireplace for these chilly October days. All SidCS tht mTr'8 bed r? lhcre a'e two oth l"e. light airy rooms. All bed rooms have large roomy closets. The bath is a dream. Tile floor, of course, but tile walls a box tub and a pedestal lavatory and arrangements for a shower make it complete in white, sanitary loveliness. A dozen built-in features make it ail that could be desired. I And,,,n theT lhe enent One of the most important parts of the house. Wads and ceilings plastered. A great roomy laundry. A furnace room equipped with an American Radiator Co. hot water plant. A room for oil storage is available a the house is to be equipped with a Pascall Oil burner. Light your tires in the fall and your heat is automatically controlled at the proper temperature until spring. No coal, no ashes, no building of fires, no frozen pipes. Then there are the special features. An electric exhaust fan to whisp the odors out of the kitchen and eliminate unnecessary kitchen heat. A gas garbage burner, a dish washing machine, an automatic hot water heater, the two car garage with doors that open by electricity, an iceless refrigerator and many other conveniences. For years the Hamrrfbnd Electrical Dealers Association has wanted to wire a house ideally. Just as highway engineers have evidenced their greatest progress m road building by the plans for ths Ideal Section of the Lincoln Highway, so the Hammond electrical dealers are going to show Hammond and the entire region an ideally equipped electrical home. .The electric light fixtures in point of convenience of location, economy in lighting, artistic appearance and the convenience and numbr of available outlets is to excell anything ever attempted in Hammond. Two way, three way and four way switches will make it possible to turn on lights in one part of the house from most any other part. 1 But you say, "What about the cost," why the cost of this home is below that of eight or ten other homes in Kenwod. It is built cn the theory that poeple want less house and more conveniences. It is the sort of a house that runs itself. The servantless house. The automatic house. The price is to be $20,000.00 with a cash payment of $5,000.0 or more required. Many a person has started to build a $15,000.00 house only to find that it cost them $20,000.00 before they were through. This house at $20,000.00 won't cost the purchaser an additional dime.
