About four hundrei women of the Federated Clubs of the State of Indiana took, advantage of the opportunity offored thtm to visit the "Dunes1 under expert euldance and enjoyed what was termed a "perfect day." Tho women, took their own lunches and the members of the ITairie Club, a group of Chicago club women who hava one of the finest carnpa along the beaches of Lake Alichlgran. served coffee to them. After lunch, the women divided into five sight-seeing- groups. Some preferred Jit. Tom. others Tremont and other notable peaks, and still others picked tie trails over tho sand hills and followed them or Just walked along the beach. All finally met at the home of Mr. Frank Dudley, the Dunes artist, who entertained them with, an illustrated lecture of great interest and also showed the ladies tha sketches and paintings he is working on at present and contemplates completing this summer. Then there were short talks by Mrs. Y. J. Torrence of Evansvillo, Indiana, who is the state president of Federated Clubs; also by Professor Mary Matthews of Purdue University at IaFayette, and by a number of the district chairmen and others taking active par.t in the work of the clubs. She went directly to Denver from Hammond where she spent a few days then to Colorado Springs, and she will continue her trip to Pikes Peak, then she will ispend several days in Yellowstone and Glacier Parks, Mies Dickover expects to return to Hammond about July Fourth. Mrs, Rose SuTIivan of Hohman Street will entertain the members of the Golden Rod Camp and their friends at a Tedro party tpmorrow, A large attendance is anticipated.

Unusual at the mentioning of improving I50t!h street, there was no disturbance in the proceedings of the East Chicago board of works meeting yesterday afternoon when bids were received and opened for the improvement of this street.
