Much beauty and originality are exhibited in the present-day bathing suits and although many of them are not exactly suitable for the strenuous swimmer Ihey make lovely beach costumes for a sun bath, particularly when accompanied by a voluminous cape convenience of .uptown voters, another .box has heen provided in Silver's diamond shop at 177 State et.. where the JeweJry prizes are on pub lie display. AT THE PARTHENON There is something quite different from all other motion .picture productions in a Katherine MacDonali screen feature. Quite aside from the -wonderful beauty of the- star, herself, she always is surrounded hy asupporting cast of players of proved worth and acknowledged popularity. A Kathertne MacDonald production typifies all that is refined, elevating, artistic and aristocratic, ond in her latest vehicle. "The Infidel" which has Just been released by Associated First National and whioh wiU be sen for the first 'time in this city at the Parthen on Theatre Thursday and Friday of this week, the popular actress offers a screen entertainment that is declared to he qu'ite ouit of the ordin ary. Th localeof "The Infidel" is the South Seas, always mysterious and maprical. The character Miss MacDonald -portrays is entirely different from anw she has ever before interpreted and her acting is said to be more vivid and g-raphile than any of her earlier histrioic endeavors. Her company includes Joseph Dowling. Melbourne MacDowell, Robert Ellis and Earbara Tennant. a quartette of 'brilliant screen ar tists as well as a score of other capable and expertie-nced players. GRAND LARCENY AT THE ORPHEUM TVe have ben told of the proposed sereen'ing of "Grand Larceny' in Hammond on various occasions J and have had ourselves all primed to see this picture, principally be cause in its cast three notable screen stars Claire Windsor, the young lady who met Charlie Chaplin at the train on his return from Europe, Elliot Dexter, the good-Jooking, and Tom GaJlery. A long time ago we read a review of this picture in one of the . leading papers of this part of the country and we have always been at aloss to understand whether the reviewer really liked or disliked the picture. So it was with a good deal of content that we are actually allowed the privilege of SPRINKLING- NOTICE. The sprinkling hours will be as .'oliows: All persons having sprinkling permits may sprinkle between the aours of 5 a. m. and 8 a. m. Those residing north of Carroll st and due east and west - may sprinkle from 5 p. m. -to 7 p. m. Those residing south of said line and north of Conkey ave. and Morton ave. may sprinkle from 7 p. m. to 9 p. m. Those south of Ccnkey ave. and Morton ave. may rprlnkle any time they have sufficient pressure. Tou must not use hose without a sprinkling permit. Watch for circulars distributed Monday. GEORGE G. of Jersey, rubber or flowered silk. These three suits all have cape for beach wear. The cape at the left is rubberized Inoire silk. It is worn with a satin suit. Black jersey makes the suit and matching cape in the center. Green stripes and a green collar trim viewing this film at the Orpheum last night. Atthough it is necessary ln order to be thoroughly interested in Grand Larceny, to stretch one's imagination, we are sensible enough to know that that is one of the necessary qualifications of amovie fan. We wer eable to follow the story clearly and to enjoy a pleasant hour and ahalf and wish that many more such films with the pleasant combln ation of these three notable stars could be shown in Hammond. Southern chi'valry is the basis of the plot. Take my pocket-book or steal my right eye, says the hero, but you hit tha wrong trail if you steal Vny girl. Tou will enjoy the manner In which the director, Wallace Worsley. has set this southern idea In pictures. CROWDED IXTO DITCH Here'a something new in the way of road hogging. Last evening at 4:30 o'clock a huge Mack truck and trailer loaded to the guards with cement went into the ditch on Dickey Road ln East Chicago and turned over. These outfits loaded, weighs from ten to sixteen tons. The driver who escaped unhurt, said that a touring car crowded him into the ditch and then speeded away without offering him assistance.
