THERE'S RAY, OF LIGHT IN AUSTRIA
' " INTERNATIONAL NEWS SERVICE VIENNA, June 12. VVliilo the economic situation ol Austria is desperate, it is not completely beyond salvation, according to a statement made here today by Otto Kahn, the American banker. Mr. Kahn is investigitms Austrian conditions in detail: but ho is not connected in any way with the conference of international bankers that adjourned In Tarla on Saturday. "The present desperate situation of Austria is logical consequence of the treaty of St. Germain, which was a piece of political and economic lunacy," sali Mr. Kahn. "The desire is growing everywhere to repair the damage wrlgfct by that pact. "The treaty of St. Germain Is one of the great political blunders of our time. It was the work of men most of whom are unfamiliar with fundamental conditions. Yet, I am not pessimistic over Austria's future. Austria and Vienna are indispensable Integral parts of the life of Europe. In America the desire la growing to rediscover Austria for America, with a direct Btream of fold from our tourists. Austria Is one of the most beautiful countries In the world. "America, although still under reaction from the policies o former President "Woodrow Wilson, can dj much for Austria, although she cannot meddle in the affairs of Europe. However, the Austrian
population must show during the
next two years that It still has backbone to struggle through darkness toward the light." Mr. Kahn was the guest today at a luncheon given by Sir William Goode, the representative of the British government In Austria. Speculation over the banker's plans was increased by the news that Frank A. Vanderbllt, American financier and former president of the National City Bank, of New Tork City, will arrive here tomorrow. Mr. Kahn would not discuss his trop here further than to say that he has no connection with any plan for Anglo-American credits.

TODAY'S AID TO BEAUTY
Hair is by far the most conspicuous thing about us and is probably the most easily damaged by bad or careless treatment. If we are very careful in hair washing, we will have virtually no hair troubles. An especially fine shampoo for this weather, one that brings out all the natural' beauty of the hair, that dissolves and entirely removes all dandruff, excess oil ajid dirt; can easily be used at trifling expense by simply dissolving a teaspoonful of eonthrox (which you can get at any druggist's) In a cup of hot water. This makes a full cup of shampoo liquid enough so , it is easy to apply it to all the hair instead of just the top of the head. This chemically dissolves all impurities and creates a soothing, cooling lather. , Rinsing leaves the scalp spotlessly clean, soft and pliant, while the &air takes on the glossy richness of natural color, also a & airiness wnich makes It seem much heavier than It Is. After a canthxox shAmvoo, Arranging the hair is a pleasure. Adv.
