The last final finishing touches have ben put on the arrangements for tonight's formal opening of Canton Hammond I. O. O. F., fun-fest.
At a conference of the special entertainment committee last night, (the few remalnirB' preliminaries were gone over in detail and the Canton members were rehearsed briefly in the various roles that they will be expected to fill in the expedttous handling of the big crowds that seem reasonably certain to throng nightly the Calumet avenue bridge grounds. v The executives and working crew of the Nat Reiss Shows put in a busy day yesterday in the work preparatory for the opening and fby nightfall every ride, dhow and concession "store"' was completely set and all ready for action. Pretty convincing evidence that the Hammond public Is hungry for outdoor entertainment of the right sort shown by the large numbers of visitors that were present from the surrounding neighborhood. A casual check-up of the Reiss attractions are Indicative of a large and varied program of entertainment. To begin with.- there are four .Joy rides which consist of a three abreast inrry-gn-round or carousel, ferris -wheel, revolving aero plane swings and Coney Island's ever thrilling and popular "whip." The list of under-canvas shows include a circus sideshow In which, for one price of admission, one may see a pretentious array of curio and freak exhibits; next is an unusually pleasing society with acting dogs and ponies, and conducted by the Ranft Family for thTills and laughs there Is a funny "walk In" contrivance bearing the lathed "Tumble In"; Ada the strange girl under another white top, offers one of the most wonderful snake exhibits extant. There is the neer-misslrig athletic sTiow and the star of that outfit is Charlie Peterson, familiarly known as "the- terrible Swede'' and a wrestler cf recognized ability. Another very interesting and entertaining show is labeled "Mysterious India." The program embraces thirty minutes of mayetlfying magic and Illusions, the big thriller of which Is the act of "sawing a woman In half The original Great Raymond, Just recently a vaudeville headllner. Is the master mind of this outfit and supporting him is Oliss Lublno, toe dancing danseuse. The Dort touring car wIch the Canton are going to give away on the last night of the festival, June 17. will occupy a conspicuous spot on the midway and surrounding H will be a bustling ibunch of live wire ticket selling members. legalIotice NOTICE
