EMday, June 2, 1922 to shield former officers of the "Wilson administration. Administration leaders in the sen. ate turned a deaf ear to the studied attempt by Senator "Watson, democrat, of Georgia, to fasten upon Daugherty responsibility for numerous "liquor scandals' In New York. Watson charred specifically that Daugrherty had ordered released 200,00 gallons of wine after Thomas B. Felder, his former law associate, had become attorney for the accused owners. ' At the came time. Senator Caraway, dmocrat of Arkansas launched a new attack on Daughsrty in connection with the Morse pardon case. Caraway announced he had re ceived a letter from Colonel Felder which he said 'showed that Daugrherty and his partner were associated with the prosecution of the Bosch Magneto case, only on different sides." Caraway also said he would call the senate's attention to "wide discrepancies in statements of Daugherty and Felder regarding the attorney general's pay for freeing Morse." Caraway added he would read to the senate a stattment given by Felder to International News Service May 23. In this statement Felter declared Daugherty had not received a penny In the Morse case. "I will show that Felder declared he had offered Daugherty part of the Morse fee on a number of ocCOAL OPERATORS - GOT 15 PROFIT years, according to figures submitted to congress by the federal trade commission. INTERNATIONAL NEWS SERVICE WASHINGTON, June 2. Thinley veiled Insinuations that cabinet officers In the Harding and Wilson administrations will be caught In the dragnet spread by a federal grand jury's investigation of war contract frauds threw the house in another stormy uproar of partisan debate yesterday afternoon just after the republican leaders had effectually sq-uelohed a -present rule that would have permitted a separate Investigation of the alleged frauds by congress Itself. Democratic members charged the republicans rwith killing a house Investigation because of fear that prominent republicans would -be caught, and the republicans countered with charges that democrats were trying to protect former cabinet officers, I

Flapper Teacher's -Problem

CHICAGO. June 2. It's the flapper little girl, not the bad little boy, who is the problem of the school teacher these days. At least, thst is the opinion of T. W. Vinson, president of the Nation School Supply association expressed in an address at a conference of manufacturers and distributors of school supplies. The old idea that the bad little kid with his sling shot and spitballs who dipped the girl's braids in the Inkwell must be placed in th front rows so they can foe watched by the teacher is all wrong, he explained. Nowadays, the teacher's problem, he said, is the little girl with her bobbed hair gestures, her powder puff, (her rouge puff, her rolled hose and her general flapperish behavior.
