STORM MAKES TROUBLE The heavy electric storm that raged all yesterday afternoon put the new Migoun avenue Pumping Station out of commission Hast evening by owning out the wires that connected the motors to the pumps and made it necessary to call out two of the East Chicago Are department engines to keep the furnish power for the pumps. The home of George C Power at 4120 Grapevine boulevard was also rtruck by lightning yesterday during the storm. The bolt is said to have hit he chimney of the .building and ran down the chimney of the house causing slight damaged but not Igniting Into flames. Mrs. Powers, who was alone In the house at the time, escaped belns Injured.
LOVIS WILL RECOVER Little seven-year-old Louis Shaffer of 4919 Forsyth avenue. East Chicago, believed to have been fatally Injured yesterday when he fell .beneath a dump wagon and sustained a .fractured leg and arm. Is reported by physicians at the Mercy hospital to be recovering.

Philips, of Beacon St., went to Lowell today to spend the week-end with the former's son and family. The civic department of the East Chicago Woman's club held their postponed meeting last evening at the home of Mrs. William Mead on Beacon st. Attorney W. J. Murray spoke on Indiana corporation laws, bringing out many interesting points. The annua election of officers resulted in Mrs. J. K. Reppa being elected chairman, Mrs. F. A. Sitwell vice-chairman; Mrs. James Clements secretary; Mrs. T. K. Williams, a member of the membership committee and Mrs. -W. W. Smith, member of the nominating committee. Mrs. George Summers, Mrs. J. D. Kennedy and Mrs. E. N. Canine attended the conference of club women In Chicago yesterday. Mrs. James Price Is spending the day at the bedside of her husband at the West Side hospital. Miss Esther Franks has gone on to her home In Kendleville, Ind.. after visiting Miss Margaret Canine, enroute from Montana where she has taught school for the past two years. Miss Franks and Miss Canine both taught at Kendleville some two years ago. The nurse committee of the Welfare Association held their regular monthly meeting yesterday afternoon In the Welfare rooms In the Bee Hive building. Mrs. T. r. CIVIL WAR RAGES IN IRELAND TODAY
INTERNATIONAL NEWS SERVICE BELFAST. May 26. The wave of violent death which Is rolling over' Ulster claimed five victims during tha night. Belfast today Is an armed camp. Barricades of sandbags and barbed wire entangiements are being erected in the principal streets in tha city proper and suburbs. The city is full of soldiers. One special constable, two Protestant civilians and one unknown ma,n were killed In night fighting. The unidentified man was attacked upon a bridge, beaten into Insensibility and ols body thrown into trie river. The hospitals are overflowing with injured. In addition to tha dead, more than twenty men and women had been injured in outbreaks from Thursday morning up to noon today. It is reported that concentrations of Republicans are continuing along the Tyrone and Londonderry frontiers. Orange tesldenta are being driven from their homes In the Donegal district.
