The action of the Chamber yester day In backing the board of works, in their plans Is Illustrative of the true attitude of the people of East Chicago toward improving the streets here. It is apparent from the feeling expressed by many of the property owners that they do not intend to allow one or two ob jections to construction work thwart I the original plans for any improve ments. .Next Saturday" morning when the board of works goes Into special session for the purpose of hearing remonstrances on 150th street and other Improvements, a committee from the Chamber composed of R. McQuilkin, Helm and Chapman. Other vacancies will be filled at an early date. The different chairmen will select their workers. Everything Is going along fine for the carnival to be held June 2nd and 3rd. The ladies very much appreciate the co-operation they are receiving from the business men. Miss Florence Schlclker will arrive home Friday evening from Madison, where she is attending the University of Wisconsin. She will spend the week-end -and over Decoration Day. Saturday Miss Schleiker will entertain at a one o'clock luncheon and at tea In the afternoon. The members of ths Congregational Sunday School had a splendid time last evening In the social rooms of the church. Mrs. W. W. Smith's class, who won the air ship contest, were the guests of honor, a table being specially decorated with a lovely angle food cake In the center. A round one hundred enjoyed the fine picnic supper and games, which were the diversion of the evening. Tuesday evening the Indiana Harbor Eastern Star celebrated their Tenth anniversary, their charter members were specially Miss Rosabella Da Long posed for this picture to show her Span ish mantilla, said to be 100 years old. However, Rosabelle didn't overlook an opportunity to sho-v considerable of herself outside the jrarment. Miss De Lon is a light opera star of Spanish ancestry and tha mantilla was siven her by her grandmother.- . wearing the aged mantilla.

Smith of Rochester, the grand master of the lodge during the last year, presided n the evening at a banquet at which Governor Warren T. McCray was the chief speaker. A special train carried several hundred of the delegates attending the Grand Lodge to Franklin where the Indiana Masonic Home was vis ited.
