ens of Gallipolis always knew he had a pretty fine game cock in Long Tom, the champion of his stable, but now he's willing that he should go out of his class. The reason for his confidence is this: The other night an old tomcat with a long an honorable fighting record was locked in Lon Tom's coop by mistake. In the "morning the owner opened the coop to feed Long Tom and found the liflss body of the cat.. "Cats, dogs, any animals. They all look alike," Stevens says. Succeeds Where Doctors Fail Lydia E. his medicine. One day a neighbor told me about your Vegetable Compound and I took it. It helped me so much that I wish to advise all women to try Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound
for female troubles and backache. It is a great help in carrying a child, as I have noticed a difference when I didn't take it. I thank you for this medicine and if I ever come to this point again I do not want to be without the Vegetable Compound. I give you permission to publish this letter bo that all women can take my advice." Mrs. Fred Miner, Box 102, Churubusco, N. Y. It's the same story over again. Women suffer from ailments for years. They try doctors and different medicines, but feel no better. Finally they take Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound and you can see its value in the case of Mrs. Miner. All ailing women ought to try this medicine. It can be taken in safety by young or old, as it contains no harmful drugs.
On September 17, 1920, the Minneapolis American Association ' team was whitewashed 13 to 0 by Ben Tincup, Indian hurler then wit-i Louisville. Not much was rr.&de of the shutout at the time. But it marked a run-making spurt of the Millers that has continued ever since or up to this writing. For up to a recent date at least the Millers had not suffered a. other shutout. They scored at least a run in the six games played after that Louisville game m 1920 and ecored in every one of 165 games played last year. This spring they continued to cross the plate every game. . . Wonder if John McGraw thinks his strategy in offering Phil Douglas and Jess Barnes to the highest bidder last winter when they showed a hesitancy about accepting the salaries offered them is responsible for the brilliant showing of these two gentlemen? If they failed to get the salary increases sought, has John's heart softened any since? Who can tell? "He's a logical contender. And he's fit to meet, the king." Ted SuRiyatj is planfefe a world tour of big league teams at the close of the present baseball season, according to reports. The veteran baseball promoter would collect two representative teams and pit them against each other i:. the principal cities of Europe and the orient. IX he goea through with his placs it will be the fourth trip -rross made by major league stars. A. G. Spalding conducted the rct real world tour, leading two
teams, the Chicagoans and an allstar outfit, through half a dozen countries in the winter of 1888. The Athletics and Boston teams, though, had ventured as far as England in 1874. The world jaunt made by Sullivan and Clark Griffith in the winter of 1913 was the most successful one. Lew Tendlers left is supposed to be his best hand and ths one' his friends say can beat Benny Leonard if they ever meet. Then how come that Lew licked Johnny Dundee the other night with Lis right? Must be a little something in his right shoulder and arm. lie used the right effectively at long range and in the clinches, surprising Dundee and a majority of the fans around the ring. His left hand had an idle evening. Benny Leonard witnessed the bout and it is a good bet he noticed the exercise that right was given. There may have been method in Lew's madness. Maybe he didn't want Benny to see the left in action. , When the athletic achievements of 1922 are chronicled the showing of the Annapolis rowiner crew must not be overlooked.
