Doc Sharrer and Queen of Hilo Island Final Chapter of the Thrilling Tale of Hawaiian Komance.
Tut. tut. Junior, you musn't cry. Daddy's ra.t biff boy musn't cry. LJttU glrla cry. not boys. Bowser will b br in th morning. I'll toitch h' on bla way home now with bis tall between bla 'less, 'shamed of himself for running away. Yaa, daddy told the policeman to send hlrn home. Xo, of course nobody ahot Bowser. No. no Junior, the automobiles didn't run over blm. He just ran away like little boys do sometimes. Yes, If he cornea home he can sleep with' you. H, you can't g-o and look for him any more tonight. Your little legs must ache now. I wish to goodness you'd quit your crying. For the luva of Bhut up; There, there, daddy didn't mean to b cross. You want to lt on his lap and hear the bedtime story? All right son, hop up. Now all you kids listen to the bed time story. Betty, what in the name of Jehoahaphat is the matter with Johnny? He's got his head caught between the rods of the bed? "Whoa, hold still, Johnny. Say. how in under the aun did you ever get your head in a hole that small? . See, I had to bend the rods to get you out. Talk about a bunch of Indians. "Why you kids have got the Headhunters on the Island of Hilo beat a city block. KX riITD3 THE TaEASXTB.il "What are head hunters? Well, that comes in the bed time sry tonight. Do you remember last night that Doo Sharrer after being thrown to the aharks for the second time, was rescued by the mermaids and taken to the Seaweed Inn and then awam back to the island and found the code that led him' to the spot where the golden treasure of the Lake County Road Contractors was buried? Well, Doo found the treasure. Just millions and millions of gold coins and he bought the palace back from the Bereolos Brothers and bought the Queen a diamond as big as the Hammond, building and gave each" one of her thousand handmaidens an Overland-Fudge sedan. Doc was the King again and he had so much money left over that he didn't know what to do with it. He and the Queen used to go down to the beach and throw $1,000 gold pieces into the ocean for their subjects to dive for. Well, one night Doc and Clint Norria were out on the sleeping porch of the palace shooting craps with a pair of platinum dice with

radium points. "I'll shoot twenty million dollars," says Doo with a. yawn. "Ah, don't te a piker, make it fifty million," saya Clint. CAPTUEED BT BAVAGSS Just then a blood-curdling aavage yell from the throats of a band of wild headhunters split the air. Clint Norria Jumped into the Murphy bed and was whisked from sight, but they caught Doo red-handed. The head-hunters took Doc to their caves up in the hills where the heads of their victims were stuck on the ends of poles. Then they danced in a circle arond Doc and yelled like a bunch of Indians with a. Wild West Show. Doo was pretty aore. "I knew darned well if that .reporter kept on writing this stuff he would get me killed," says Doo. Then the head-hunters built a fire under a great big kettle and began to smack their lipa. Doc saw that they were going to cut off his head and then make a pot roast out of the rest of him. "Hey, wait a minute," he ahouted. "I'm a tough old bird. If you let me go I'll get you a nice tender preacher. Do you like preachers?" "Turn, yum," said the Igorote head-hunters, smacking their lips some more. "And I'll get you a fat boy, too. You can fry the preacher and stew the fat boy." "What's their names?" said the chief head-hunter, skeptical. "Well, the preacher is J. C Parrett, orator of Orak Shrine, and the fat bey is John Morthland, the Chief Rabban," answers Doc. "It's kind of a dirty trick to play on a brother Mason but If you fellowa are determined to eat anybody it might as well be them." '"Where can we find them?" asks the chief. "Oh, they are coming over with the Shriners to the big ceremonial on Hilo Island. They're be a lot of Shriners." Doo saw that the head-hunters were listening to hia proposition and he began to get enthusiastic. "You can eat all of them except me," he said. "I'll tell you what I'll do. I'll help you eat thm. That's the kind of a pjj I am. I'll help you." Then Doo had a second thought. "There's one other one that you'd better not eat. That's Judge Reiter. He'a not very fat. But then we can have him for a soup bone for lunch Monday." So the head-hunters let Doc go and he hurried back to the palace where the Queen was using smell
ing salts. "Oh, Harry," she cried. "I never expected to see you again. I thought you'd been ate up." PIRATES Xt&JTD ON ISIUTD Doc told her what had happened. Of course he didn't really intend to let the head-hunters eat up all the Shriners, but he had to get out of being devoured himself, somehow. Just then the general of the Queen's array came running up and reported that a pirate ship had come ashore and the Island was full of pirates with great long swords. "Good gosh," says Doc. "Ain't that reporter never going to let me get a night's rest?" Well, Doc had to go out and kill the pirates that had come to get the buried treasure and when he got back to the palace, he was all in. "I've had about enough of this." aaya Doc. "Gimme that walie-woop-er." And so Doc anuk up behind the reporter and broke his other finger and then there was no more trouble on Hilo Island and the Doc and the Queen lived happy ever afT ter and "Sunny Jim" McCandless, the Imperial Potentate of the Shrine, sent them a beautiful present. And forever after thera was peace on the island wher the crescent moon niters through tha palm leaves to tha surf of the ocean and casts a spell upon all men. The end.
