KSSUXTS OF TTTE CXEA-N-TTP CAAIFAXON "While the boys were unable to tl-oioughly finish the City Clean-Up bcrr-usc of lack of means of transportation, the following is what they actually accomplished : They sold 12.360 lbs. of papers, 1.S14 lbs. of magazines, 4,251 lb3. cf tires, 6,835 lbs. of iron, 1,674 lbs. oi rafts. The largest amount collected -was by Troop 8 of West Him mond, with Trooi 7 of RiverslJe chool coming: in second, Troop 4 of Methodist church, third, and Troop 1 of the Baptist church, fourth. Troop 10, of St. Joseph's church, ftrth. Troop 8 received a check for I17.S6 and the other in proportion to the amount collected. The check for the whole amount totaled $105.00 altogether. Because of the way the boys handled the thing, Mr. Marcus, of the Hammond Iron and Metal Co., gave them a bonus of $10 making it $115.00 altogether. It was decided at tr.e last Scout Masters meeting that each troop should divide its money in the following manner. One-fourth to g. for troop equipment, and the balance to be divided among the boys who actually did the work, to be used In helping pay their expenses summer camp. Patrols under five patrol leaders. Already there is quite a bit of rivalry between the Patrols as to which will lass the most tests. Troop 2 reports very successful meeting under Soout Master McLean and that a number of the old timers of tho Troop are coming back. Troop 3 held an impressive tender foot oermonial at their last meeting, in which all boys in the Trooj who had passed their tenderfeet during the last few months wert taken through this ceremony ard duly Impressed with the importax x of the Scout Oath and laws. Honor Tuesday evening. Troop 7 Under Scout Master Fair enjoyed a bicycle hike Saturday to the Dunes near Gary beach. In as much as there were not enough bicycles, they took turns riding the Ford and riding. the bicycles. The boys played a good Joke on Mr, Fait by riding ahead and letting him ride
through Gary with his blue socks as leggtiics. They found the lake water so warm that they enjoyed a good swim before being cautioned by the beach police to bring their bathing suits the next time. Troop 8 of the Wcntworth School Is still looking after the Hessvllle Troop. They ar also planning to WAVE OF ENTHUSIASM SWEEPS OVER THE COUNTRY. send a full attendance to Summer Camp. Troop 9 reports some good meetings lately and several additions to the troop. Troop 10 has entered into a spirited contest due to some fine prizes put up by Scout Master Friel for the boys who show the most advance ment and earn the most money before Summer Camp. Troop 12 enjoyed a hike the other Saturday afternoon under the leadership of Father Doctor. Troop 13 of the Maywood Sahool has earned enough money during the Clean Up Campaign to pay the troop registrations for the coming year. This troop is going to be heard from because of the enthusiasm and ambition of its pcouts. Troop 14 with the assistance of Acting Assistant Scout Master Fred Ko'.b has organized into Patrols and are entering a Patrol contest in order to get more boys into the troop. Troop 15 under Scout Master Leav erton reports new boys and will register as one of the new troops in the near future. Trop 16 has not been meeting for some time regularly, but are starting again under the leadership of Father Henry. Trnop 17 held an outdoor meetingin the park the other evening. nd enjoypd sonif lively outdoor
games. Troop 18 is still on the map and had two boys up for second class and two for first class before the
Court of Honor. Some of the old troops are going to have to watch their honors because of this trbop. Troop 19 of Hessvllle under the supervision of troop committeemen Patterson and Smith, assisted by Hammond Scout Masters is going to make a regular troop before many weeks elapse. They hava a peppy bunch of Hessvllle boys who will make real Scouts. Troop 20 is not as yet but Scout Executive Scott eeya that will b the number of the troop which th. boys want to organise In Columbia School. srarxER CAMP Several Interesting things as regard to the Summer Camp will be announced in the near future as the committeemen are working hard, making preparations to make this camp the best Hammond has ever had. Boys should begin to register for Summer Camp now. Registration fee is 50 cents, and this will be applied to their Camp expenses. Camp will cost the boys $3.00 per week and transportation will not exceed $1.00 each way. Every scout who knows he is going should register in the near future. Don't put it off until the last minute.

Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. G. Wagner and family, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Wagner and son Don. Miss Anna Krooswyck from Hlghjand, Miss Ruth Hickman of Hammond, an- Mr. R. E. Sparks, Maternal grand-father of Baby Junior, of Huntington. A very pleasant time an a delectable dinner enjoyed by all present.
FIND WOMAN IN POOL OF BLOOD INTERNATIONAL NEWS SERVICE FAYETTEVILLE, 111.. May 19. Lying face downward in a pool of blood, the body of Mrs. Josephine Schmidt, S8, was found in a barn by Mrs. Katherlne Frerking with whom the dead woman made toer borne. Mrs. Schmidt had been stabbed to death, examination by neighbors whom Mrs. Frerking summoned, revealed.
