Looks Like a Smooth Road For Business
While steel is lagging in the production race, the automobile industry,. apparently is thriving. It is known that many large automobile manufacturers are working at capacity and still can't fill orders. Evidence of that is furnished by local dealers. Go to any of the well known dealers and there will be models that delivery can not be made upon. "Can't get car," is the cry. It is the cry that has ben heard for som time and probably will continue to be heard indefinitely.
It is known that there are at least four Hammond dealers who can not make certain deliveries at this time, neither are they able to tell when this condition will change. Business is extremely good in Hammond. Really looks like a continued spell of activity. At any rate, if the present spell keeps up, it will be satisfactory to a great many people, and especially to the automobile dealers, who are the barometers of business loDally. Hammond automobile dealers will tell you business was
never in a more promising stage than today. Orders tell. A prominent dealer is responsible for the statement that he has averaged a sale a day for the last two weeks. This statement was later verified by the contracts. Can this revival of business be only a flurry? Many ask the question. But when it is considered there is a general trend toward greater activity the country over, it is hardly to
be looked at as a temporary matter. Other lines in Hammond are enjoying increased activity. The building game received an increased boost over the cor
responding month of last year of two hundred thousand dollars. The merchants also notice the upward trend the cash register tells the story. So if you are postponing the purchase of an automobile until business picks up, get out your "goggles," and look around. Business, !so far as Hammond is concerned is in "high," and it looks like a long, smooth road ahead. x
Do You Go to Your Dealer for Repairs?
When you buy an automobile you receive what represents years of experience and research to make, that automobile given you the service you are promised to get, for each unit has been put through the severest test. The workmanship and material is such that each unit co-ordinates perfectly in delivering long and continuous transportation. When repairs are necessary and they are bound to be with even the finest cars built, isn't it reasonable to argue that you can get more efficient service from the dealer wKo sold vou the car? It is the
one sure place, or ought to be, ' where your car should receive the j expert attention, for the reason
that the heavy investment this certain dealer has made to make for himself a reputation in the community practically insures you against any indifference, and also against overcharging. His particular organization thinks and breathes only this particular car. The mechanics are specialists, just as are specialists in other lines. They are in a position to diagnose correctly the trouble and remedy it reasonably and efficiently. Factory replacements can always be found at the repair department of your local dealer take your car to him. You will not only save yourself dollars, but you will enjoy that greater satisfaction that comes with complete co-ordination of the working part of your car.
From Private Chauffeur to Big Tire Dealer
From private chauffeur to prominent tire dealer in less than eighteen months is the record piled up by Stew Smock, "just a kid." but a grownup in meeting the needs of the public. , Kaufman and Wolf had a pretty good man in Stew, as chauffeur. Whenever a boy thinks sefiously of his work, it is a sure sign of success. He handled his chauffeur job admirably, but it was shallow water for his ambitions, and he soon jumped into deep stuff, without any swimming instructors, and from the first stroke, proved him-j self to be a good swimmer even in j the turbulent waters of the spring '
and summer of 1921. The store on South Hohman street is enjoying a fine, business. The National Tire and Supply is a prosperous looking place. While there is stocked a full assortment of accessories, the big feature of the place is Oldfield tires and "Stew" is staking all on this particular brand. He also handles other tires, because there is a demand for them, but Oldfield tires is his hobby. Smock gives the impression of a trained business man, and in the short tone he has been in business, has knplanted the idea of permanency in the minds of those with whom he comes in contact.
