Although Mayor R. O. Johnson of Gary does not admit that he sets any fashions or styles, he surely
made some of the steel city beau
bunnels sit up and take notice this morning when he appeared at the
tcity hall, all dolled up like a 40,000 candle power light in a London fog. He wore a new straw "katie" of the latest spring pattern, a black and white check suit, low tans with a "high" polish and in appearance, looked nothing sort of a "million dollars." "Where you all going," quizzed
the pesty reporter who had an ink
ling that his honor might be going sleuthing and had a good story up
his sleeve.
"Just leaving for the Derby at Louisville." returned Mr. Johnson
as he was getting into the ex-sher-
iit Lew Barne's Packard, to drive to Crown Point where they will take
the Pennsylvania.
City Comptroller William Fulton who made up the party, said "no straw hats for me," pointing to a black checkered cap on 'his head. "That's no place to wear a straw hat. I've got to have something like this that I can stick into my pocket, if I get excited," indicating that he is some race fan and that he is liable to get reckless if that "pole hoss" does not get in the money. The Gary party expect to get back to Gary in time to attend the dedications of the new Y. W. C. A. home which will be held Sunday afternoon and will .be attended by people from all over the country.
