A LETTER FROM MR. KOVACH Hammond. Ind., ilay 3,1922. Editor Times: Regarding tha article pertaining to the hold tip ef Mr. Kovach, I will herewith g-lve th actual facts aa they -were told to me by Mr. KoTach hlmelf. The hold up took place sometime between 6:30 And 7 o'clock and Mr. J. T. Kovach. was in the store at 646 Hohman street, alone while I had gone out to doj
some shopping, while I vu out a man entered about S-8 In heigrht, dressed in , brown suit and light tan cap and appeared to be more or less smudgy and asked for overalls and then commanded Mr. Kovach at the point of a gun to go back to the back room and deliver over the money. The safe was open and the eaffti. drawer was opened as per the command and the robber took all the cash there was there and left the store commanding Mr. KoVftCh to dare not to ihove or he wuIJ stoat him. When I arrived m one was m the store but Mr. Kovach and so frightened that he could not relate the story to me untxl I saw how things were on the
floor in the back room. I phoned to the station, also his "brother and the detectives then called but did not seem to think to their Idea the right action was taken and from the article it appears as though it w.s not true. Mr. Kovach is a paying citizen of Hammond and pays county and city tax, and in case of this kind now they give such a write up and really Insult one instead of giving and publishing the actual facts. Any relllable person in Hammond knows Mr. Kovach and can prove as to his honesty and character. Tour truly, J. T. KOVACH. P-S. Tb amount taken was
about $325.00. (Eritor's Note: "Ko reflection on Mr. Kovach was contained In the Times Mory. He was held up. That was -unfortunate. It's likely to happen to onyone. That's all.")
