MAY MOVE THIRJ RAIL If the plans of Mayor Frank Callahan and the works board of East Chicago can be agreed upon, then the third rail upon which the South Shore trains now operate along Chicago ave. will be moved off this street and probably laid parallel
with the B. & O. C. T. tracks from
Kennedy ave. west to the city limits. Mayor Callahan and Karl D. Nor. rls, member of .the board, were In conference with President Wilkoxson and directors, of the lnterurban line at Michigan City today in devising ways and means In bringing about this improvement. The third rail down the center of Chicago ave. has been consiaered as a peril to traffic since It was laid a number of years ago, and while there has been a conserted effort on the part of city officials and citizens to bring about the re
moval of this company's tracks, the
city has as yet been unable to prevail upon or compel this company to transfer their tracks.
