LEGAL NOTICE NOTICE OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE SOUTH SIDE MAIN SEWER IN THE CITY OF HAMMOND, INDIANA. DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS, OFFICE OF THE BOARD, SS: Hammond, Indiana. May 1st, 1922. O WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: Notice is hereby given by the Board of Public Works of the City of Hammond, Indiana, that on the 1st day of may, 1922, they unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 893, for the construction of a main sewer on the south side of the city of Hammond, Indiana. That from its size and character it is not only intended and adapted for the use by property holders whose property buts along the line of said sewer, but it is also intended and adapted r receiving sewage from collaterdrains already constructed or which may be hereafter constructed, upon the streets hereafter described is follows: Beginning at the center line of Hohman Street and running easterly along the center line of Michigan Avnue to the center line of Columbia Avenue; thence north along the center line of Columbia Avenue, for a distance of 750 feet; thence by curves to the east and north to a point on th City Park property to a line parallel to and 120 feet east of the center line of Columbia Avenue, and running under the Grand Calumet river (the river crossing to be an inverted syphon constructed of two lines of 48 inch cast iron pipe and concrete); thence continue north with sewer to the receiving chamber to be constructed at the Sewer Disposal Station to be erected on the ground north of river and east of Columbia Avenue, now owned by the City of Hammond. Said main sewer to connect with and furnish an outlet for the main brick sewer on Hohman Street, one on Sohl Street, one on Calumet Avenue and one on Columbia Avenue and conducting the sewage from said sewers north on Columbia Avenue and under the Calumet River to connect with the Sewage Disposal Station, to be erected north of the river and east of Columbia Avenue, on the property now owned by the City of Hammond. On Michigan Avenue from center of Hohman Street to center of Sohl Street, 1640 feet of 54 inch internal diameter sewer, including ten (10) concrete, manholes, complete, one (1) new catch basin complete, the removal of old sewer, the reconnection of branch sewers and reconnecting and adjusting fifteen (15) old catch Lasins and the repaving of the roadway. Two (2) twelve (12) inch pipe house drains, 24 feet long, extending to the lot line. Eighty-two (82) six (6) inch pipe house drains now in use lowered and reconnected. On Michigan Avenue, from center of Sohl Street to the center of Calumet Avenue. 1460 feet of 60 inch internal diameter sewer, including ten (10) concrete manholes complete, one (1) new catch basin complete, the removal of old sewer, the reconnection of branch sewers, the construction of 32 feet of 36 inch sewer and the reconnecting and adjusting six (6) old catch basins and the repaving of the roadway. Ninety (90) six (6) inch pipe house drains, 24 feet long, extending to the lot line. Three (3) nine (9) inch pipe house drains, 24 feet long, extending to the lot line. Ninety (90) six (6) inch pipe house drains now in use lowered and reconnected. On Michigan Avenue, from center of Calumet Avenue to the center of Columbia Avenue. 2720 feet of 96 inch internal diameter sewer, including seventeen (17) manholes complete, the removal of old sewer, the reconnection of branch sewers, the construction of 30 feet of 60 inch sewer, and 48 feet of 84 inch sewer, the reconneccting and adjusting of 14 old catch basins and the repaving of the roadway. One hundred eighty-seven (187) six (6) inch pipe house drains, 24 feet long, extending to the lot line. One hundred eighty-seven (187) six (6) inch pipe house drains now in use lowered and reconnected. On Columbia Avenue, from center of Michigan Aevnue, north a distance of 750 feet, then northeasterly by curves to the south end of the inlet chamber to the syphon. 975 feet of 108 inch internal diameter sewer, including five (5) concrete manholes complete, seven (7) new catch basins complete, the removal of old sewer, the reconnection of branch sewers, and the repaving of the roadway. One river crossing, consisting of two (2) lines of 48 inch cast iron pipe and concrete, including inlet and outlet chambers at each end of same, also manholes and covers, gates, etc., complete. On the City property from the north end of outlet chamber to river crossing to the south end of the receiving chamber at the Sewage Disposal Station. 180 feet of 96 inch internal diameter sewer. All in accordance with the profiles, details, drawings and speicifications for said improvement now on file in the office of the Board of Public Works of said City of Hammond, and as authoized by Improvement Resolution No. 893, adopted by the said board on the 1st day of May, 1922. John Thlel spent Saturday night and Sunday at St. John with is parents. Lillian and Gerald Kellman and John Gresser from Hobart spent last Saturday with Mrs. Paul Gettler, and family. Frank Gettler was taken to Chicago Heights hospital on Sunday evening and was operated for appendicitis on Monday morning.
