Jim Hart, the artist who is drawing: the Charles Dyer sketches In The Times, revisited Crown Point yesterday and was immensely pleased at the popularity of his wort, especially the "Old Swimming Hole."Tou had it exactly. one old timer toW Jim. r Personal and Social News HOME ECONOMICS MEETING The last regular meeting: oi the Home Economics Department of the Hammond Woman's Club was held on Thursday afternoon in the domestic science rooms of the Washington school. The demonstration was in charge of Mrs. Tyler of J. L. Kraft Brothers Company of Chicago. - Mrs. Tyler demonstrated the different cheeses manufactured by the company, and concocted delectable di.shes with cheese as the basic element. The annual social day of the department will be held the fourth of May at two o'clock In the afternoon at the home of Mrs. N. J. Austeen. 3 West Elisabeth street. This day will be open to the members of tho department for the past year as well as new members for, the coming year. A delightful surprise party was given on Friday evening: in honor of Mr. and Mrs. H. Schutt in their home on Towle street. There were three tables of cards, and games and music were enjoyed. A prettily appointed luncheon was served about twenty guests at the conclusion of a very pleasant evening-. I One of the loveliest of the early spring- parties was give non Thursday when Mrs. Frank Esshom entertained at luncheon in her home on Carroll street. Four tables, exquisitely appointed with climj; luncheon sets and delicate silver, had the daintiest of . bouquets, pav pink sweet peas with a single pink tulip, in silver vases. There were attractive plac cards, too, and an elaborate and mot delicious luncheon was served. I"We was played,the guests pivotiii. and honors at each table were gi to Mrs. Jesse Wilson, Mrs. Peter TYvnpackcr, Mrs. R. H. McHie and Mxa. li. C. Groman. The Woman' Auxiliary of the American Legion held a very pleasant social meeting in the new LegTtn rooms on State street on Thursday evening. There was a large and enthusiastic attendance. Cupp, a Le- j gion officer, spoke to the ladies on future plans and the co-operation I of both factions, of the Legion in the furnishing and decoration of ttj new home. . Mrs. William Bigger, the chairman of the legislative committee, received a letter from Gov. McCray. of Indiana, the contents of which j she read to the members of the organization. The governor wrote that he had no intentions of voting for the Washington Memorial. An entertainment 'and luncheon is being planned by the auxiliary to be given in two weeks as a house warming. The public is cordially invited to attend this function, of which Mrs. ! Bigger, Mrs. R. B. Powley and Miss Hazel Sparling comprise the entertalnment committee, and Mrs. Cupp; chairman of the refreshments com-1 mittee. j Miss Aphla Bogart and Miss Lil-1 lian JoTOiston were admitted into, the auxiliary as new members. The yoke, for which raffle tickets have been sold, was awarded to Mrs. Waxman of Beal avenue. Tho Legion and auxiliary will Join with , the community in taking part in the exercises which mark the observance of several days set aside for memory's sake each year. Including Mother's Day. MEN QUARRELL OVER GARDEN Gary police detectives nrobablv aved two men from serious trouble ,; I and injury yesterday when they ', t made a hurried trip to 25th avenue, and Polk street to stop a fight between two foreigners who were quar rellng over a piece of ground, given to one of them by the school board to be used as a garden. One of the men had a shot gun and the other a revolver. The weapons were confiscated and brought to the station. A farmer and a business man: Otto G. Winning His First Fight

Today Charles Dyer is a no less earnest fighter than he was as a chool boy in short trousers. Again he is fighting for a principle. Charles Dyer has always fought clean and hit hard. In his fight for the nomination for clerk of the

4 K4 circuit court at the Republican primary, Tuesday, he has delivered one telling blow after another In a fair way. May 2 will reward fighters. Charles Dyer Is a fighter!
