WHITES EAGLES MEET The White Eagles Club of Indiana Harbor are holding an open meet ing at Kosciuszko hall, 3809 Cedar street, tomorrow night and have invited every republican candidate to be present. They expect a large attendance. BRES FOUND GUILTY Although accorded the courtesy of a trial by jury, Steve Bres, 3472 Michigan avenue, Indiana Harbor, wis found guilty of violating the state liquor law and was fined $300 and costs and sentenced to 90 days at the state farm by Judge A. P. Twyman yesterday. The case has been appealed by the defendant's attorney, James W. Brissey. AT THE POSTOFTICE The volume of East Chicago's annual sales can be increased materially, according to Postmaster Harry H. Spencer, if business concerns will do their mailing at least twice daily. Postmaster Spencer has outlined some peppy pointers to the public that will assist the employes of the East Chicago and Indiana Harbor postoffices to dispatch their mail more promptly if this co-operation is given. They are: The early mall gets the early sale. Help us to Improve: How? Address clearly. Pack carefully. Mail early. Criticize constructively. The program as arranged by the hostess was carried out and greatly enjoyed by a large representation from the club. This evening at eight o'clock at the McKinley Auditorium, the Junior high school pupils will put on the operetta, "Patrica." Last year the "Windmills of Holland," was given by the Juniors, which proved to be a great success. But this is still better, so don't fail to hear "Patrica." Esther Rebehak lodge will meet Thursday evening in regular session with initiation of candidates and nomination of officers, after which a social time with lunch will be enjoyed. A REPUBLICAN WOMAN'S MEETING There will be a Republican meeting of the East Chicago-lndiana Harbor Woman's Republican Club Friday evening at 8 o'clock in the Riley school building. The public and all candidates seeking office are earnestly requsted to attend. B. C. Lukens has been confined to his home on Grapevine' blvd. for a few days with a bronchial cold. The East Chicago Methodist Mens club will not meet this Thursday evening on account of the Father and Son banquet of the Boy Scouts. Mrs. Louise Hand, mother of Mrs. Martin Petersen left this morning for South Haven, Michigan, where she expects to spend the summer with her sister, Mrs. Charles Ephler, who has been in poor health for some time. The Civic department of the Indiana Harbor Woman's club are holding their last meeting of the year this afternoon at the Washington high school. Tomorrow a number of the club members will attend the conference and luncheon of the Chicago Woman's club in the Fine Arts building In Chicago. Saturday afternoon the home and educational department will finish their year's work by entertaining at a children's party at Katheran House. Mrs. F. L. Evans of Detroit, formerly of East Chicago, is epected to arrive in this city today, to be the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Gwilym Jones on Northcote avenue. Mrs. Evans is In this locality to dispose of their household furniture in Chicao, also their cottage at the Sand Dunes at Miller. The Auto-Deal club had a delightful banquet Saturday evening at 7:00 o'clock at the Lyndora hotel. After the banquet they repaired to the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Kennedy on 145th street, where cards were enjoyed until a late hour. The members of the club, Dr. and Mrs. Jacobs of Gary, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Kennedy, Mr. and Mrs. Gwilym Jones, Dr. and Mrs. A. A. Ross, Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Gilman and Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Evans wer all present except the latter couple, who now reside in Detroit. An apron is the Persian royal standard. KEY WEST, Fla., April 26.-- The seaplane Nina left here this morning to follow the regular air route to search for the missing Santa Maria, which is missing with her six passengers. The Ponce de Leon, another commercial plane, left Nassau at the same time to proceed toward Key West and search the island for some trace of the flying boat which left here at 6 A. M. Monday for Nassau. The Ponce de Leon started on its quest for the missing boat yesterday, flying from here to Nassau. She arrived there late yesterday, reporting no trace of the party. Aboard the plane when she left Key West were O. A- Lowes, Leslie Curry, pharmacists; Pilots Ed Musick of San Francisco, E. G. Richardson of Buffalo, N. Y., and a woman nurse, Gertrude Gillen. They were going to bring back Duke Schiller, an airplane pilot who was attacked and beaten on a recent trip to Nassau when he was accused of being a prohibition enforcement agent. Schiller has been unconscious since the attack. Officials of the company which operates the Santa Maria hold to the belief that the plane may have descended In the vicinity of Andros Island, and a thorough search will be made there today. The tender Wright of the Atlantic air squadron left erly today to serach the gulf stream. The Santa Maria is a six-ton boat and capable of riding out heavy weather. BOXING AT MILLER BEACH Spike Sullivan, who boxes Jimmy Dillon In the second half of a double wind-up at the Magic City A. C., Miller Beach, Thursday evening, April 27th, has a record that speaks for itself. He has engaged in over one hundred bouts and never has been stopped. Here are some of the good ones he has met: Mickey Delmont of Jersey, 10 rounds; Dick Loadman. 15 rounds at Albany; Ray Delmont, at Scranton, 10 rounds; Battling Milroud, at Scranton, kayo In 2 rounds; Marty Collins, at Syracuse, 10 rounds; Tommy O'Boyle, stopped in 5 rounds, and stopped Earl Bently in 4 rounds at Detroit. His home is in Syracuse, N. Y., and is under the management of Kid Howard, Chicago. He is an overseas vet, with Second division. These boys are doing one-eight-een at 3 o'clock. In meeting Jimmy Dillon, Sullivan will meet a real good tough and rugged kid who never has been stopped and has engaged in about thirty bouts meeting the cream of the coast and good ones around Chicago.
